Simple proposal comes from south members on committee 😈by cutting hours of darkness makes it much more unlikely that birds up country will beat yous , not many birds fly 15 plus hours that's why 😈

A few random thoughts on the proposals

Portsmouth was changed to Littlehampton last year on the recommendation of the convoyers because of fog problems. What's changed?

Reims was the majority decision of members last year. Why do the committee go against the members wishes?

Falaise. Why? Roye was the committee recommendation last year and was a good race. No reason to change.

On all the above I have no problem with any of the race points I just don't see the need to chop and change every year for no reason.

Hours of darkness - never read so much rubbish in my life.

23 hour rule. Again why? I would assume it is to do with the longer races and the time from the first birds being timed to the close of race. Could they not modify the times for the longer races. 36 hours seems a bit ridiculous for inland races.

Couldn't believe it when I seen it. Appears that some people just like to change for the sake of it. Similarly some of us like our thoughts to be known and some prefer to keep them to ourselves.

Would be interesting to hear the reasons or thoughts behind these proposing the changes.

we're always a bit later getting our diplomas Dave, parcel post is usually a day later LOL ;)^_^;)

Only two of the seventeen on the management committee are in the South Section-surely at least some of the other fifteen will have been in support of the idea? perhaps even the proposers themselves if word of mouth is to be believed?

You and yer geography teacher are right Stevie, but for a bird to make use of this light it'd have to be a lot further North than the yer back door by half 10?

hours of darkness should be 10.30pm till 5am

Why no make it the hours it's actually dark? Ye can find this out for any location in the world now within a few seconds.

I don't give any answers Davie, only questions :emoticon-0136-giggle:

You're right though, the hours of darkness should be from the time it gets dark round Stevie's back, til the time it gets light. That'd be a good job for him next year-I nominate Steven Dalgleish as head of the hours of darkness committee
