Kyleakin Lofts Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 My wife is well into her preparation for Christmas day, a quiet one. The daughter is going to her partners folks. Another daughter is working Christmas eve and boxing day and her partner is in England, so we are 5 down. Just be 16 here for Christmas dinner.
Kyleakin Lofts Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 (edited) My wife cooked / boiled a gammon in Coca Cola, she then finished it in the oven with a treacle glaze. I think she mixed something else through the glaze, but don't know what it was. Lovely, but then, she is a cracking cook. She has also cooked in Ginger Ale with a honey glaze, if I remember correct. She is always trying something new. No wonder we average 12 - 14 on the last Sunday of the month. Edited December 22, 2016 by Kyleakin Lofts
paddymac Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 I have the pleasure of cooking a 24lb turkey, a 14lb gammon and preparing all the vegetables on Saturday whilst working on nightduty. Cooking for 16 residents plus 2 day staff. I have being doing this for the past 20+ years so well used to it.
paddymac Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 Ian - do you soak your gammon in coca cola? (I only ask as my daughter does - I personally have never cooked gammon...!)I boil my gammon with added cloves in the pot and finish it off in the oven with a honey glase. Beautiful
