Every time the birds race is adding to their education and will stand them in good stead for future years.

Stop pampering them, race the full programme plus Young Bird National and what you are left with have got to be the best you have.

Stop them, breed from them & you don't know their capabilities, maybe the problem with young bird racing is too many inferior birds??

expletive remove I agree lol

if there were more combine/amalgamation races or even just more joint convoying this would help the situation.

Crazy the amount of empty transporters running up and down to the same area's at this time of the year.

Joint convoying, joint liberations got to help the education of young birds also.

expletive remove I agree again, twice in one day lol

Prove it then

I don't know what you mean mate? I am saying that it doesn't matter if your yearlings raced to the bitter end as young birds or just 50 miles. ....I don't know how to prove it....they either do or dont

Again another good topic but am afraid 95% of the topics on here now are have one common denominator if you dig to the root of the question ie not racing ybs not training ybs only going to a couple of races going east going west going north change of race points etc etc all derived from losses and fear of losses best sorting the the problem that's caused all this carry on ie bop then we can train race from anywhere and enjoy a Saturday again only my opinion 👌

Uniformity of opinions is pie in the sky. Absolutely No Way would agreement be reached countrywide to limit distance, or agree tae anything got that matter, so opinions are good conversation but no answers.

IMO. We need tae manage our team as we see fit without criticism fae tom dick and Harry coz THEY think the Doos, You bred, You reared, You trained , maybe) !! and You pay for their upkeep disnae suit THEM expletive remove !!!

Just my opinion everyone to their own

1/ My own youngsters years ago were trained to the 1st racepoint Shap prior to the season commencing

Then the club had a scramble race week before so they had probably been three times

Nowadays get trained up to 20 mls continuously being struck and loosing confidence

2/ Our Fed the Solway for birds to win later in life they must be raced on line which to us means them coming through the Cumbrian hills ,old bird racing has been good when Falcons are sitting but young birds are racing at worst time of year and we are getting hammered

3/ We sold 7500 rings yet only 1100 at Friday's race which was only 100 mls to shortest flyers

I know some don't race youngsters ,some have stopped their naturals but I do not believe 6000 plus are being wintered ?

4/ I see Lanarkshire raced today with 1300 ish How many rings were Distributed?

5/ Ayrshire I believe had a stinker today I have one in tonight and others in the town flying lost

6/ with Lanarkshire and Ayrshire flying the East or central route the further they go the birds are reverting to what is natural to them and flying line of flight which brings them through totally unchartered territory for them it was posted on basics by South lanarkshire fancier that his birds homed from South and I have had ayrshire birds in last three weeks which are now back with their owners which proves birds are trying to fly line of flight

7/ until we all pull together and clear a line of flight for our birds it is getting worse by the year

8/ the yearlings I clocked from littlehampton only had two YB races this is the line I am going to go down in future as to many good decent birds are being lost

9/ Everyone to their own but the costs incurred cannot be justified for a working family with the losses we are facing weekly

Good luck to all for what is left of the season ,I myself have finished for the season due to losses which are unacceptable

Canny argue with much written here.....common sense for us in the south....think we should skip to charnock instead of Sedbergh but that controversial

North of SCotland fed ,Arniston 2 6th race ,800 odd doos barely enough to cover costs So what you saying ,test them ,test them ,test them ,at whos cost mine ,what should be happening is the fowk that want to race full prog ie test them let them pay ,the whole problem is the fowk in charge have nae cahoonies

How many did you send Phil. How many races have you sent to this year?

The trouble is that the people who send and support sales and shows etc actually subsidise you. You seem to think it is the other way round and you are subsidising the racing men.

As for the men in charge (and I am not one of them anymore) they have plenty cahoonies. They have to deliver what is voted for at the agm whether they agree with it or not. Get yourself along to a meeting and air your views there.

Also if you expect every race to make a profit or even break even you are kidding yourself on!
