Good thread this myself I've always been a heavy trainer and done ok but the last few years I've been busy with work and became a lazy dooman and decided not to train and to be honest my lofts empty so back to basics for me I like looking at who sends what to the nationals and the guys that breed big teams and don't train aren't fairing any better than anyone else as the numbers their sending tells you this so for me it's a short enough season so I'll be trying to win every race even the 60 ml ones as to wait all year for a time in from the channel two days after the winner doesn't do it for me that's the beauty of the doo game everyone's got different ways of getting a buzz and that's what we do it for as you say dkj many roads and whatever works for you ðŸ‘

DKJ, how many years have you been practicing no training for youngsters ?? When you first started this method, did you loose a lot of youngsters ?

8 or 10 years, and yes at the start lost plenty, and still lose them yet,

but the most important thing is y/birds must be roaming the sky,s for hours seeing all about them, or you will get hammered,

again this is only what i think, plenty knockers but it works for me,

the other day y/birds were away 3,45 mins, thought i had lost them,

David how many do u send to the first race and how many usually come back? Is your returns any worse than your club members who train hard?

them all, this year 115 birds if its a good race for the fed hope to have 110 plus, fingers crossed, i get hammered like everybody else on bad races, hope to get a couple good races at the start and they will be ok,

mind when our fed go over the tyne valley we all get hammered

This was similar to Eddie Newcombe's experience - lost a lot at the start of this "non training of youngsters" and as the years went on, the family became accustomed to this method and fewer losses were incurred.

Fair sized team. I've had a couple of tosses at my work 11 miles. I'm thinking of not going any further tho and staying there every day until first race.
