Froog Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 Does anyone treat their birds drinking water to remove chloramine?
robbiedoo. Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 Does anyone treat their birds drinking water to remove chloramine? No but during the racing season I keep the water in a plastic container for 24 hours before giving them it.
Guest bigda Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 That would be a smart thing to do ,but a waste of time also, if your birds go with the national as they give water from taps from France, race horse trainers make sure the water they use abroad, is from there own well, or tap ,giving there horses a chance on wining the race, water is the main reason most pigeon's don't make the race home, one bad apple having a drink , and natural immunity gets a boot in the balls, 2 or three days in the basket, soon shows , Any weaknesses, and if the French only drink bottled water why would we use there tap water for our birds should we run out

Roland Posted July 15, 2016 Report Posted July 15, 2016 When we transported the Feds birds I on occasions suggested that we use Fish Tank pumps - or such - to pump the water starting from the top into the drinkers that relayed downwards and then out. Fresh water in containers would / could then be treated of course. Just a few quiddies and no pigeons would be drinking water that sat there to be contaminated. No one per usual wanted to know how this simple measure could be implemented. Too much to think about for most and then worries of 'Who would do it' and be responsible etc. Gosh we see water fountains doing similar every day like.
peter pandy Posted July 15, 2016 Report Posted July 15, 2016 Does anyone treat their birds drinking water to remove chloramine? You only have to put it in a bucket and agitate it {stir} for a minute.

Reno1983 Posted July 15, 2016 Report Posted July 15, 2016 If anyone would like to do this then the best way to remove chlorine and chloramine is with using a HMA filter, I already use one for keeping discus fish and they are simple to use, filters need changed periodically. Never thought about it for the Doos but it may be of some benefit due to the shyte the water board put through our pipes
