Some 25/30 years ago I purchased a Weihrauch Export air rifle and had it 're-sprung' by a local gunsmith. It was some tool !!
Anyhow, at the time, the gun shop gave me the serial numbers so I could send for my license. The application had to be accompanied by hand written permission to shoot on their property from 2 landowners. I also had to confirm the fact I had a gun cabinet, and when in the cabinet the weapon would have all removable parts removed. The quantity of pellets you could buy was limited and you had to bring your permit so the gunshop could record the purchase. I can't honestly remember the cost of the permit, but Â£25.00 comes to mind. The Police did carry out their checks from time to time to ensure all was well.

That was never a ruling in Scotland or England or Wales that I know of .

When I retired and moved back up to Scotland I had to have a change of address on my existing shotgun license and applied for same to Central Scotland Police. They knocked me back and it took a great deal of persuasion from a QC friend to have it reinstated. The Firearms officer told me I was the only official shotgun licence holder in the District of Camelon. Now I dont want to disappoint any of you guys that have an air gun but I am afraid you will struggle to get a Firearms Certificate for a built up area discharge ie, garden. A Firearms Certificate is twice as hard to obtain than a shotgun certificate so it does not look to good and is as I said in another post the Pellets will require showing your certificate for face ID. The Doctors report will be scrutinised with great care and if you have been on any medication that could be classed as detrimental to your stability. Drinking alcohol more than a stipulated amount of units will be classed as misuse likewise Diabetes etc etc. Unfortunately it all goes back to Dumblane..

No - microchips are registered on a national database - so not the same.

Basically, tattoed dogs should be on the National Dog Tattoo Register. Maybe now when it's in your mind would be a good time to check with them.

Have never owned 6 air guns and never will , dum de dum de dum . Had to give up my shot gun licence when moved to Greengairs as I am 50yrds from school. Yet another move to dictatorship .
