Taken from the other thread Jim Hannah was quoted as saying all champions had a strong back.

Now I know how I tell if a pigeon has a strong back but discussions with my mate he would call it good balance,

So my question is how do YOU tell if a pigeon has a strong back?

I for one couldnt tell ya what a strong back means, but what i will say is i like the tail to be a natural extension of the pigeon meaning the tail should never go up or down just straight

That sums it up perfectly

Hold bird in both hands firmly facing you and separate both wings at same time.. Tail up = weak back..tail down = strong back.. The tail will always go one way or other.

What happens to the weak backed yins? Have seen it printed that major league fanciers win with tail up pigeons? They wont win here but dont know if thats the case for everybody else

Many years ago I used to go and watch at Big van Hannah's when he was doing photos of national and fed winners . And the only thing that all the pigeons had in common was a top result. :animatedpigeons:
