geordie1234 Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Taken from the other thread Jim Hannah was quoted as saying all champions had a strong back. Now I know how I tell if a pigeon has a strong back but discussions with my mate he would call it good balance, So my question is how do YOU tell if a pigeon has a strong back?
Kyleakin Lofts Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Good padding at the base of the tail and tail goes down, not up. These are usually two indicators of a strong back.
Wiley Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 I for one couldnt tell ya what a strong back means, but what i will say is i like the tail to be a natural extension of the pigeon meaning the tail should never go up or down just straight
Cliftonlad Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Ask Davie Pirie of Aberdeen he's a connoisseur on strong backs.

peter pandy Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Hold bird in both hands firmly facing you and separate both wings at same time.. Tail up = weak back..tail down = strong back.. The tail will always go one way or other.

They wont win here but dont know if thats the case for everybody else

Many years ago I used to go and watch at Big van Hannah's when he was doing photos of national and fed winners . And the only thing that all the pigeons had in common was a top result.
