It was a great night and well attended as usual, well done to all who made the night happen, plenty of drink and banter, for anyone who has never experienced a SNFC presentation you don't know what your missing.

I looked closely at the North section average trophy last night.

If memory serves me correctly this trophy has been running for 16 years. There were 5 years when it was not won and of the remaining years which I think is 11 there is only one name on it - that of J and A Donaldson.

 

Now is that inspirational or phenomenal?

it did derek what a pigeon eh double gold a dream to own such a bird there was a few silver awards and one or two bronze and a gold but only myself and the great john houston from the west another name thats been at the top in the snfc as long as i can remember and a gentleman jim and i were sat at johns table along with tommy blair and phil lynch and a few other guys whos names i did not catch but all good blokes and good company

Yes Robert, but look closer to home and you will see the Region F Averages has NEVER been won!, so their is the challenge, we have tried to compete in as many races as possible, but it is hard to have top birds in top form ready for ever race.

The year this average trophy is won will be a top season for the fancier to achieve it.

I heard the President got a gold award for a bird that only has 4 Section positions.

 

Granted it has 5 Open positions but the rules are clear, your bird needs 5 Section results to receive the award.....

 

Can anyone confirm this ?? If so what do SNFC members feel about the President bending the rules for self glory.

I think we are nit picking here, maybe the rules need to be made clearer, but 5 open positions is surley more worthy than 5 section positions, we are recognising top performing birds here, so if the rule was broken then #i think the rule need to be made clearer to honor top performing birds.

That would be well outside my remit I think. We would all need to raise our game considerably to achieve that!

I was reading some old Scotland's own books only last week and the late jim Renwick wrote an article on Mr and Mrs Graham of Ecclefecan the following are Jims Words

Clintpark Lass 1st open SNFC Nantes 1992

Clintpark lass had already achieved four diplomas in SNFC racing and you would have thought this winner would have gained her a well deserved gold award ,But ironically the rules have it that to win a gold award the pigeon must have a section prize and open positions do not count .

Jimmy Graham is not the first fancier to be deprived of such an award and if the committee of the SNFC continue to keep this most unfair rule then more fanciers will be disappointed ,I cannot see justification in this rule at all

Look at this champions record

2nd club 22nd section 54th open Sartilly 1990 vel 1352 3310 birds

3rd club 42nd section 84th open Rennes 1990 vel 996 4516 birds

5th club 60th section 102nd open sartilly 1991 vel 972. 3180 birds

2nd club 27th section 63 open sartilly 1991 vel 882. 3673 birds

1st club 1st section 1st open Nantes 1992

The 102nd open was good enough but it's section placing of 60th ruled it out

Fanciers should never start talking about pigeons being great solely because they have won a SNFC Gold Award

Past winners in abundance have an inferior record to clintpark Lass ,Not many can better it ,considering the worst position was 102 nd open

I was a great honour to see two pigeons I bred get awards...

 

GILMOUR BROS., Leven with a 4yo blue cock that Ian has now named 'Wullie' who won a Silver award for winning 3 times at over 500 miles including twice at the Gold Cup.

 

DAVE BALDIE, ST.ANDREWS with a 3yo blue cock named 'Fran-Tastic' that was 1st Section C Billericay 2015, this same cock won 1st section C Buckingham 2014... a double section winner.
