We man Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 4Oyrs ago and Boxing saw one of the greatest fights ever, how many remember watching it that night.
Kyleakin Lofts Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 Ali had some stormers of fights and although they said he didn't punch hard, I wouldn't have wanted to be on the receiving end of any of his punches. The sheer volume and speed of them was enough for most of his opponents.
walterboswell59 Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 for me he will always be the greatest
Roland Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 Me too Walter... 16 stone moving that fast, reflexes etc. etc. AND proved time after time he could take the best of the punches. Personally I think he went on too long, and was / and still am mad at the USA government robbing us and him of his greatest years when in his prime.

W.D. Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 Yes, I remember my Dad let me stay up late to watch them, think I was only about 7 or 8 then? Was it in black & white or colour? Our old tv only had 2 channels but it lasted 21 years before it conked out!!! lol
Roland Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 A friend of mine went with a couple of others to the Cooper fight. On the train home they shared the carriage with a elderly gent. They got talking and this gent said he had been to see a once in a life time - could ill afforded it, but wife let him go lol - chance to see what will always be a top topic, a fabulous Cassius Clay. He stated much regards speed, reflexes and CONTROLLED power and finished saying 'The like will never ve seen again in the heavy weight division...' Never is a long time, and ...' I say not since Jack Johnson had the division been devastated by any one.... Last to be up there was / is of course Lennox Lewis. The greatest shame is the sad bemoaning and hatred of Sonny Liston.... I think undoubtedly in 4th place, at his age etc. unbelievably good. P.s. don't any one go on regards Tyson ... a great bully and able to put bums on seats ... Not in the top 10 ... 15 even. JMO

A complete machine that made his opponents look pathetic because of his power/speed and fighting skills. Im not saying he is my favourite but hes definitely in the top 3 ever heavyweights imo.

JMORoland Lennox was the worst heavyweight I've ever seen as for Tyson he dodged him till Tyson was washed up Tyson for me and Holyfield kiltchco is also very boring come on big Joshua easily the next world champ in a division full of duds omo
Roland Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 Tyson nothing more than a explosive bully... couldn't hack it when stood up to. Looked for easy ways out. Will later compose a little of my thoughts and why later, as am making Jam and apple pies at moment. Just popped on to check a pastry method lol... I see Ali isn't rated by the above two posts.

Our old tv only had 2 channels but it lasted 21 years before it conked out!!! lolThink I was a wee bit older than you at the time as 40 years ago I was 30 lol as you know it was billed as The Thriller in Manilla, now when I pay to watch the heavyweight bums around today its more like being Sold down the River lol, high hopes for young Joshua though looking good so far.
