I often wonder If it is Better to let fit pigeons go into dodgy weather or to let

Birds that have Been in the baskets for 4 or 5 days go for a race.

to me its like locking an athlete in a box for the same period of time And asking him/ her to run a marathon ????

Can only comment on the only experience we have had down here with birds in the basket for 5 days in our race from France last week, they were held this long because of unsuitable weather when other feds close to us had let go a couple of days before us and they had bad returns and read about other feds libbing as well and having bad returns, after the 5th day we liberated and had a great race with very good returns only dropping one bird, I think if the birds are up to it they can stand time in the basket which I would prefer rather than letting them go in iffy weather,I am sure there have been some very good fit pigeons lost when let up in iffy weather,we ourselves experienced that a few years back when the fed libbed in bad weather and we lost a lot of well experienced channel birds[as did others]that was one of the many reasons we left that fed to join our present one which takes far better care of the birds and put there welfare first and foremost
