buster151 Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 If its to windy or raining heavy mine stay in
walterboswell59 Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 only gale force winds keep my birds in out in all other weathers if they dont like it they can come back in
Platinum Posted April 1, 2015 Author Report Posted April 1, 2015 only gale force winds keep my birds in out in all other weathers if they dont like it they can come back inDoes that go for your YBs too
philg50 Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 I am with Walter ,dinna put them out in extreme weather but all other days winter or summer they can just go back in if they are not happy.
walterboswell59 Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 Does that go for your YBs tooyip youngbirds to but when racing starts they have to fly for at least one hour before they can come in sometimes an hour before they go training sometimes an hour after training but they must fly at least one hour everyday unless the wind is gale force as they can get blown into the wires around me
Platinum Posted April 2, 2015 Author Report Posted April 2, 2015 yip youngbirds to but when racing starts they have to fly for at least one hour before they can come in sometimes an hour before they go training sometimes an hour after training but they must fly at least one hour everyday unless the wind is gale force as they can get blown into the wires around meOk thanks. That goes for rain and all, I'll get my ybs out abit more.
dal2 Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 I don't let mine out in the heavy rain especially during the racing season gale force wind and fog/mist also a no no for me
William Reid Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 yip youngbirds to but when racing starts they have to fly for at least one hour before they can come in sometimes an hour before they go training sometimes an hour after training but they must fly at least one hour everyday unless the wind is gale force as they can get blown into the wires around meI have to agree with old van Boswell . Everything you expose you're young birds too is all about , training, and survival . JMHO.
PAPA B Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 So when is it best to start training them after the molt. What months.
walterboswell59 Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 Does that go for your YBs tooyes m8
Wiley Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 So when is it best to start training them after the molt. What months. most race programmes start around April 14th, you want your birds to be fit flying around the loft well before this, before you can think of training.
Guest johnhunter Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 only gale force winds keep my birds in out in all other weathers if they dont like it they can come back inso for talking sake walter you get up one morning and it is heavy fog you would let them out
james mcguire Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 so for talking sake walter you get up one morning and it is heavy fog you would let them out We can use electric pylons a couple of miles away as a judge.if we can't see the pylons the birds stay in
Roland Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 walterboswell59 says' only gale force winds keep my birds in out in all other weathers if they don't like it they can come back in'! Spot on. Mind I don't train in the rain if intending to send them that week - end .... I feel it takes the edge of them. If not racing then up they go. I put time and effort in 'Molley Coddling' them. Small steps etc. Good days, and warmth. Lost more and well behind on hard days etc. Going back to former times and just be interested in the longer races etc. The sprints, which I've never been interested in can stay will those that like them. Will be back to just sending them races if I feel need sharpening up etc. So yes Dal12 I stand correct again lol. Birds will have to like my system and want to be here in their hotel. Ones that aren't happy can go and save my money on feed etc. and breeding their likes.
Guest johnhunter Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 We can use electric pylons a couple of miles away as a judge.if we can't see the pylons the birds stay injohn I don't think you will see pylons a couple of miles away if it is heavy fog expletive remove and I don't think that is good advice to give to a new start to the game [LET THEM OUT IN ANY WEATHER UNLESS IT IS GALE FORCE

Ones that aren't happy can go and save my money on feed etc. and breeding their likes. You stand correct??? No for me ye dinny. Absolutely crazy too be letting yer birds our in FOG!!!! Then tell me ye keep them in oor of the rain for AN EDGE on race day? These warriors of the sky that fly thru anything and make it home regardless of the MINDLESSNESS of the owner are a recipe for disaster for any new fancier taking up the hobby as a newbie.....its alright for walter boswell training latebreds in all weather but for me .......I dinny let them oot in...heavy rain.....high winds (dusnae need to be a gale) *expletive removed* FOG (jess Christmas that's just mental)..... guess I am a diffo old school from you Roly but it's crazy..... these guys should be low after their birds with the minimum of risk not the max
james mcguire Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 john I don't think you will see pylons a couple of miles away if it is heavy fog expletive remove and I don't think that is good advice to give to a new start to the game [LET THEM OUT IN ANY WEATHER UNLESS IT IS GALE FORCEThe point is if you can't see the pylons it will be too foggy!!!
walterboswell59 Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 as ive said before guys my birds are out in all weathers bar for gale force wind because the birds can be blown into wires and roof tops as for fog if it was very bad id wait till it lifted a bit if i cant see they cant see simple as that a wee bit of commonsence as jim says we use the pylon about a mile and a half away as a yardstick as we sit in a valley but its very seldom the fog is that bad we cant get them out but in saying that its happened twice in the last two weeks i could not see across the road to jims house at 7 30 but by 11 oclock it had lifted but that was the first for years
james mcguire Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 john I don't think you will see pylons a couple of miles away if it is heavy fog expletive remove and I don't think that is good advice to give to a new start to the game [LET THEM OUT IN ANY WEATHER UNLESS IT IS GALE FORCE
walterboswell59 Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 so for talking sake walter you get up one morning and it is heavy fog you would let them outin a word no john if i cant see they cant see m8 the pylon is more used as a yardstick for training if i cant see the top it tells me the mist or fog is lying in the clyde valley so i wait till i can see the top of the pylon before leaving to train
geordie1234 Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 Kinda off topic bt some of the best training I've had is in bad weather....set off in good weather and got down the 74 and it's closed in...once was terrible bt I was in a dnt give a fk mood....doos skooshed it..... remember once the wind was far too strong tbh bt I tossed them they came oot the basket and blew back the way....sat and watched them struggle like fk into a head wind...2 days later I topped the section
Guest johnhunter Posted November 8, 2015 Report Posted November 8, 2015 at least you are honest George thank you
