reading this weeks B.H.W. letters to the editor Mr Stewart Wardrop writes about his dissapointment with the Tower Ballroom being so cold .seems un-happy with the initial response from the Towers representative . lets hope they can sort it out ? i believe the Tower and Winter gardens are owned by the same leisure company :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

I'm sure they charge a hefty sum for the hire of the hall over the course of the weekend, but I wouldn't want too much heat as it would be too uncomfortable when combined with all the crowds of fanciers attending :emoticon-0138-thinking:

the heating issue was for the evening meal at the Tower Ballroom Pat , with visitors from other countries as geusts etc, so some embarresment for the commitee :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: .hired in conjuction with the Winter Gardens so casting doubt on the whole set up for next year ? :emoticon-0138-thinking:

I think the doubts were cast even before this show.

RPRA have issued on the Website there are a lot of rumours ( I know this is hard facts about heating)

But said there 100% there 2016 and dates are booked 15/16/17th

Believe the RPRA have a contract with the Winter Gdns till 2018

Should they start looking for a new venue?

Maybe Tony. There's always Doncaster Racecourse and Birmingham but there's not enough of hotels there I don't think. There would need to be lots of hotels if it was gonna be a two day event :emoticon-0167-beer: :emoticon-0167-beer: :emoticon-0167-beer::emoticon-0140-rofl::emoticon-0140-rofl::emoticon-0140-rofl:;)

used to go to the National cagebird exhibition in the N E C C birmingham from thursday till sunday but the only problem there is accomadation . you had to go to far side of birmingham for reasonably priced accomadation but in the traffic it was 2 hours in car from N E C C , either that you paid £200 a night for a room at NECC but a tad exspensive . Any 2 day event needs somwhere with enough chaep accomadation to cater for a big number . Not sure where else could accomadate that a lot of folk go to blackpool from around the country as its only a 2 and 3 hour drive from most places apart from far north or south , so you would loose a load of day visitors if it were in london etc as to far to drive for a few hours out .

Believe it or not Andy - I've been to the Tower Ballroom/RPRA presentation evening a few times - and it has been cold every time - though eventually 'warmed up', it is an expensive evening and there is no food put on!! (Warm Pies available in the bar area to buy - honestly!!! Just what you want wearing a posh frock and heels munching on a steak pie!!!!)

Was thinking myself more of a holiday camp type venue e.g. Butlins Skegness can accommodate 7000 peeps

That sounds like a great idea! Someone needs to write to the BHW and suggest it...

There are so many places that would be capable of holding such an event and would be grateful for the business.
