Walter swanston Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 I got 8 pages of of information this morning from our fed. Secretary passes on from the SHU and emanating from the Scottish Government.Basicly it warns against allowing pigeons to mingle with wild birds and warns fanciers to ensure that food and water for our pigeons is out of the reach of wild birds.OK just now for most fanciers but could become a problem later.I have warned all my club members about this.At the moment it is all strong advice and not so far mandatory.

Novice Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 I don't know what is happening here but I believe all poultry shows in Holland are cancelled for the month of December
Roland Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 Yes there has been a couple of outbreaks 2-3 weeks ago.
REDCHEQHEN Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 There was one in Driffield a week or two ago - my other half booked a licence to hold a show through DEFRA (he books licences for our club shows and the federation shows) - and they informed him that there had been an outbreak in Driffield - but it wasn't the H1N1 variety - a lot of ducks had to be culled I think

alex young Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 Sorry,a bit off topic but does anyone know if the figures for the outbreaks of PMV are still published anywhere? I've tried the DEFRA site but the figures are not to date.

The restrictions imposed on movement of birds should have eased, maybe some of the couriers could enlighten us on the subject

Better late than never. seriously though, now they have released these guidelines, should another outbreak occur, we will be informed on how to deal with it, so perhaps they were sent out as early prevention / preparation documents.

Roland Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 Heard of lofts in Scotland getting Para etc. Now a case of my mate in Northampton. Has lost most, and Dafra have took charge. Loft lock down. Told him they will be back and has bought 1000 shots of Para. Seems - Like Canada, he will have to jab 3 times per year.Mind I see a 1000 shots is only £37. Club is thinking of doing all clubs birds again - as it once was - again. Personally I believe that to be the best way forward again. I used to get mine done by another club ... was cheaper then, and you know ALL birds were down as to some who reportedly just signed each others papers forms.
