speedy Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 does anyone race the bricoux pigeons still?
BIGPETE Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 I was reading about this strain just the other day in an old Squills yearbook. I believe a Dr created the strain and there were a lot of red chequers in the family. Looked and read to be fantastic pigeons but it was an old book 15-20+ years old. Would also be interested to know if they still exist.

dal2 Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 Anybody that has the late john carmichael pigeons will undoutedly have some bricoux in them. I remember as a boy asking why the dark cheqs had been brought into kirkpatrick family mainly of reds with a few mealies and he said to keep the distance in the blood butvalso to keep the depth in the red colour that he felt was being diluted as his family became closer bred

Novice Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 wasent thinking but there is or was a dr anderson strongly assosiated with the bricoux strain thats the ones i purchased a few years ago sadly none here now like bigpete said cracing reds heavy blak splashed and big wattles Yes of course you are correct Dr Anderson had a very famous family of pigeons based on the Bricoux. Other names associated with the family in Scotland were Davie Forsyth, the Mc Alpines, Bob Jamieson of Lochwhinnoch and Willie O'Neill of Larkhall (I think). I had some from Bob in 1966. Absolutely beautiful birds which could also race. The first hen I had bred 4 winners in her first season breeding with me and I had only just started in pigeons. The pigeons owned by Davie Forsyth were eventually so inbred that they were crying out for a cross.
