frank-123 Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 did he ever start lol oh when he puts his mind to it he can race them. We chucked them because we couldn't race with the big boys
Guest chad3646 Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 For me I believe you will sadly see distance racing getting less and less birdage and sprinting and middle distance being more the done thing (if its not already that way) george dont let delboy hear you saying that lol
geordie1234 Posted February 28, 2014 Author Report Posted February 28, 2014 george dont let delboy hear you saying that lolOnly need to look at the birdages mate the proof is in the pudding unfortunately
Tony C Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 well maybe the topic should be sugestions on revival be intresting to see some thoughts Advertise the sport (in a good light) Publicity, publicity & more publicity. Costs would be astronomical and all would have to chip in.
Delboy Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 Always will be distance racing because every fancier aspires to fly the distance whether they say they do or not. It may come down to travelling many miles to get them away though but imo the real fanciers will always be there.

However more and more are picking the races that gets better returns etc which is perfectly fine but it's still just as hard to win but saying this I fkn struggled for club tickets haha

blue pied Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 Hope the future is bright cause iv just joined a club for the first time, but in my honest oppinion i fear the worst as there just isnt enough young people interested in racing pigeons, plus some of the older guys seem to be stuck in a time warp, jmo and hope i dont offend anyone.what club did u join
walterboswell59 Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 would have to say no walter was more banter back then to many moaners now full of excusestrue m8
TheHigg Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 spot on m8, ypres a fortnight later would be better as gold cup doos could double back .THE GOLD CUP IS PRIORITY imo.DERECK WHATS YOURE THOUGHTS on yearlings for ypres and anything older for the further distance myself i personaly like ypres as i think it is [or has been] a fairer race [racepoint] but thats just my opinion the results are evenly spread out i would realy like to compete in the longer races but dont feel i have the correct birds [or am i just being scared] if they can doo 450 surely they can doo 100 more with the right motivation [not yearlings KEEP THEM FOR YPRES OR NOT] BY THE WAY WHEN I START TALKING SHT TELL ME TO SHUTTIT
Delboy Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 Two totally different birds to do 450 and 500+ Joe, the same as many Rennes birds cant fly 600 miles. I like Ypres and I think it is suited for both yearlings and 2yr olds best.

Del what's your thoughts on making the gold cup great again ? , mines is prize money and or sponsorship , like a big first prize , and big first section prizes , because nowadays everything seems to be money orientated .
Tony C Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 Does the Gold cup race fall between the 23rd July - 3rd August when the Commonwealth games are to take place. If so could be an opportunity there to promote it along with the games.
Guest GAV Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 what club did u join Chryston m8...
Delboy Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 Controversial answer here lol.No matter what anyone says Stu, the Gold cup is the holy Grail of pigeon racing in Scotland and this race should be PRIORITY on the SNFC calendar and made as fair as possible for EVERYONE to win, not just certain areas. My previous postings about breaking points and fatigue factors should be brought in for this race imo. This itself would generate more pool money etc because everyone is on a leveller playing field and would think they had a chance to win it and therefore pool their pigeons in the open pools. As said before, this will never happen as people like the penalty kick and don't want fairness in our sport. Sponsorship is another avenue the national has used before. It still worked out unfair as you couldn't allocate every section the same prizes eg. its harder to win big section E than it is small section F, or section B than D.so even though the money could be split pro rata per sectional birdage, it is still easier to get your hands on it in a smaller section. I don't know how to make the Gold cup any greater than making it FAIRER to ALL to win.omho

Covers some area with members from Newton Stewart/ Stranraer in the solway and Darvel in Ayrshire up to kirky down to Greenock and back down the west coast . prob the biggest in area in the whole of the national .

moscow master Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 might be the biggest area but there aint a lot goesCheck out the open results since the fed races were duplicate with the snfc and against our mighty neighbours I would say we doo alright with our handful of birds

Aye its a big area Stu but what I mean in wee is the members/birdage .Its obviously a lot harder winning section E. Ive been lucky and won the west Region 5 times but that only equalled beating sect E 5 times but I would've had 21 or 22 x 1st section F if still in Glasgow:emoticon-0138-thinking: Not taking anything away from the results in section F though. This takes me back to my original point, there are great fanciers everywhere but some have no chance of proving it at the highest level because of location.
