Not a lot changes really, things around the loft happen roughly the same time of day, 52 weeks of the year. Only change to the lofts will be some new hen boxes will be fitted to my hen section with the intention of racing hens next season.

All birds fed once daily 1ounce per bird which I feel is just right ,Don't get out much during the winter because of the obvious down here .,Hand bath them when required which also gives a good pointer as to there well being ,Breeders have been parted since June/July and are in fine fettle

Installed a false ceiling throughout the apex along the lines of the coopers but not entirely happy in the yb section so will make a miner adjustment ,Going to install 1x1 galv mesh flooring with course sand and lime on floor once it has all been creosoted ,which will give me time at nights to watch the cocks and yb 's exercise when I finish work

The best laid plans o mice and men lol .

going to fit a corridor in the young bird loft over the winter long overdue and will try and devise something that will cut down on time spent basketing during the young bird racing

I have a list of jobs I would like to do , yet struggled on Sunday to clean them out after being left a week :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: maybe ,,,, in the spring will add "new" Perspex to let in more light .toying with the idea of grilles (top & bottom) in the gable end to increase ventilation ?? :emoticon-0138-thinking:

Loft painted. Fixed some odd jobs around the loft and garden. Interior of the loft has been reworked to turn it into a full time old bird racing loft. Stock selection process has begun and looking towards breeding plans and race plans for each individual bird. Cleaning loft everyday, feeding, watering, supplements given as per normal schedule. A whole lot of discussion will take place this winter. Of course making final arrangements for Blackpool. The winter is a good time of the year for us.

latebreds out first light every day if ive got time racing hens out for half hour then racing cocks ive just fitted oil filled heaters in the stock lofts at the weekend ready for pairing stock birds last week in november if the weather ok i will build up the heat in the lofts before i put the birds in need to get some wee temp gauges for each sect study up on whos bred what on paper then get the stock hens ive picked into the nice warm lofts a few days before i bring in the cocks i want to pair them to both will be on hemp seed a few days before pairing then 1 oz of conditioner between them per day till they lay ive been putting a little anti cocci rearing pellets in my mix so il only treat for canker when there sitting about ten days thats the plan anyway see how it goes from there but the temp plays a big part in the hens laying or not
