Peregrine Deterant?

A friend has given me a CD of a European Eagle Owl calls to try out. Does anyone know if these sounds work? Things are desperate in this area because the peregrine is taking youngsters at will. We have tried most things with the exception of bird scarer rockets but nothing works.

Heard of some saying they work, but I think you have to use all the deterrents on a rotational basis to keep them guessing. Any that work only last a time and the BOP become used to them, so I think a change would possibly work again. The problem with the Peregrine is that they don't always take them at the loft and you can't hang deterrents in mid air.

definitely do not work,I gave them to a lot of people in Scotland and it never made a jot of difference to anybody that tried them

Because you cannot play them loud enough without annoying your neighbours , Tammy was too miserable to put a farling in the meter :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

Naw it cost me a plastic eagle owl as well, it's still swinging in the wind, the sparrow hawk used to sit on it before I relocated it

Well it is back to the rockets again by the looks of it. I have the bird scarer rockets designed for farmers and they work really well but the draw back is that they give off a very loud bang and people complain about the noise and the fact that the dead rocket can fall anywhere. Thanks for your replies lads.

get a eagle owl,my mate knows of a chap in the midlands,on a loft visit, who has one.

he lets it out to do a sweep of the garden in the morning.

keeps it in a shed,at the very end of his lofts, yes he was astonished when he peeked into the shed

very tame to,it had a perch at the end of the garden it flew to,and back, into its shed

HE DID HAVE PEREGRINE PROBLEMS...BUT NO MORE HAWK PROBLEMS SINCE HE GOT THE EAGLEOWL

I KID U NOT. :animatedpigeons:

Brings back memories of when we all, well maybe not all, going to breed and release them to cull the peregrines and fight the RSPB for the right to have them breeding in the wild

Nice to see you are still alive and shuffling Roland

I presume you are not watching Springwatch on BBC, a couple of evenings ago they had an Eagle Owl in the studio and in the conversation it was stated the RSPB said 64 escape captivity every year and are breeding in the wild, I don't know where they get these figures but as we all know the RSPB can be cavalier with their numbers
