They must be paying the vat to a haulage company as you can't charge vat if you're not registered. You need to pulling in over £70+ thousand to be vat registered

no quite right you can be vat reg under that but if yer over 70k its compulsary to register . :emoticon-0167-beer: :emoticon-0167-beer:

Should be using Lanarkshire Feds new transporters simple as that IMO

the geraldys wouldnt be compatable with other transporters baskets when ferrying birds into a central area

dont want to be swapping birds from basket to crates after they have been racemarked

the less disruption to the birds the better imo

if they had wanted the geraldys they could have possibly used some of the existing ones from other feds who are not vat registered and wouldnt have to charge vat on top of any hire charge

Lanarkshire fed I believe would have enough baskets to get them droped off at the relevant marking stations for marking. Quiet sure the VAT issue could be resolved

If the info that is on here is correct, then i have to say that im disappointed, 3 years i was on the SNFC committee and each of those years the committee of the SNFC, approached an organisation that use Geraldy vehicle, about the availability to use there vehicle for even just the one race, the gold cup race, this was turned down due to logistics.

Now some 3 years on, here we have a organisation Lanarkshire(geraldy) that has tendered a really competitive price for not one race but ALL SNFC races. And yet the method chosen to transport the SNFC, is the same ones that our fathers and grandfathers used.

The SNFC in my opinion is not progressive enough, its living in the dark ages, and high time that more decissions are taken back to the body of the hall at the AGM.

Anyway, Time for a https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRhsWZ0BbHxY6-XGU8J8MEGZsruq_fcD4zHyauuRc9BJ5oIm0pvrA

surely Gareth if they have taken the option to use others and are prepared to pay VAT on top then the lanarkshires tender must have been deemed to exspencive an not competative enough for who ever makes the decision or they would have been using geraldys surely :emoticon-0167-beer:

Too many jealous fancier who dislike Lanarkshire and could not bear the thought of us taking the snfc birds. It was a stick on they would use someone else. Doesn't matter Lanarkshire will survive.

Was told even since the agm that Lanarkshire transporters wouldnt be getting used, and that its nothing to do with the price. its the committee that decided to stick with with what they have always known, wicker baskets that cant be disinfected properly, have 33% less water available to the pigeons, could go on and on, anyway I thought that common sense would have prevailed, sadly not this year.

would be interesting if the members were told what the tenders were and i think it should be Frank and also the reason one is picked over the other .for costs or for comfort or whatever :emoticon-0167-beer:

If the price is competative as you say i dont understand why the best transport is then not being used , i suppose its maby like my type of work putting in tenders etc for jobs its not always the cheapest that get taken but somtimes its favoured contractors that get the nod .
