BANG ON M8

Between now and end of March is deadly for Sparrow hen attacks, they are fatting up for sitting there eggs, once there down on eggs they tend to go for prey they can carry back to the nest, and leave The pigeons alone.

Last Saturday hen sparrowhawk attacked for nearly an hour as if I didn,t exist. Outcome 1 dead 4 injured 1 missing. Have never experienced such a prolonged and severe attack. It was as if I wasn,t there. Totally fearless

unfortunately lofts with avaries are a magnet for preditors, these birds can see our pigeons in the aviary and will come back time after time to see if there is any birds to prey on.

Dont talk a lot of nonsense, this is the first year that i have had problems, and ma stock doos are out in the aviary every day what ever the weather. :emoticon-0140-rofl:

I know its unpopular advice but at this time of the year in particular KEEP THEM IN....sorry for the capitals

That could be difficult if folks have early bred youngsters taking to the wing

Now now there, dont spit the dummy out, i no that every one has there opinion, what am saying is, i have the birds out nearly every day and dont get problems, this year so far has been the worst. :o:o

If you let out pigeons at this time of year it is your choice but be prepared to have them attacked by hen sparrowhawks and eaten alive.

When ma pigeons are out, am always prepared for the worst, you cant keep birds in when the weather is fine just now, they have wings to fly. :animatedpigeons:

There are plenty of lads with early youngsters that must be flying out, one lad on another site was saying he's just weaned his 2nd. round

Well at this time of the the year with the Sparra hen, if the ybs are out, he better be on full alert, cause they catch you when you dont think it as you no mate. :emoticon-0167-beer::emoticon-0140-rofl:

i feel for all that are getting hit.

im in a built up area and have it relatively easy but my most dangerous month is march. The SH hen is an animal at this time and often comes into built areas to feed before lay.

however they are still an animal and need fed, its up to each and evry fancier how to feed them or "not".

As i saw posted earlier lose one = act..lose 2 missed chance...and lose 3 means your prepared to let it happen.
