sapper756 Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 At our club AGM last night it was pointed out again just how some clubs rely on the income from their annual young bird sale to keep the club financially viable, and prevent club fees having to be constantly increased, to meet the annual costs of running a club. I believe it is important for members to support their own club sales and also those of other local clubs in their area. How do your club sales go? and are they well supported? thank you in advance for your comments.
demolition man Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 I find its always the same few that do there bit for the club or feds and those that sit back and do nothing moan and grone :emoticon-0179-headbang:

andyyy Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 One of my clubs sales is shocking, No support from anyone else in our fed just our club, Last years the birds was lucky to to make £15/£20We rely on the lottery run by myself and also we run tickets which bring in a good income, Atb Andy
ALF Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 We had our club Agm on Sunday and having a sale was spoke about but 90% of the people there didnae want to know so it got binned I also brought up the fact people are putting in daft bills for a fiver etc 1 guy even wanted back the pound he paid for a parking ticket expletive remove
KMCK Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 We had a young bird sale last year, about 40lots some very good breed pigeons from winning loft went for next to nothing we held the sale to help some of the older members with fed cost and fees to ensure, but I suppose its about getting the right crowd and I think as well that there are many clubs that time of the year running sales so drives the prices down, But saying that everybody always looking for a bargain
andy Burgess Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 i think in this day and age ,they are a very good thing to help with running costs. our club has them every 2 years (apparently) .looking at the spread sheet for our A.G.M. in 2 weeks, also an important part of keeping the club going .
geordie1234 Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 Wee normally manage to get a couple of pigeons donated from top fanciers to auction at our smokers night / presentation normally make a couple of quid to help keep the club afloat, was thinking myself ways we could raise a couple of quid maybe a football card down at the club house on basket night could generate a few bob, something I will look into

geordie1234 Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 Yeah all good idea's to get funds into the club need to get something organised I would be quite happy to run it
Novice Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 Ayrshire Federation has run a successful latebred sale in 2011 and 2012.Without the hard work of the organisers and donations from some top fanciers it would not be the success it has been.Unfortunately many of the members (who never supported the sales) think they can sit back and allow the sale money to subsidise their racing. This is absolutely not on and will destroy the goodwill of the fanciers who donate birds.
cemetary Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 You can have the best of birds from top flyers, but you have got to get the people at the sales to buy them, its pretty shete when you have asked for and been given birds for not a lot of people to turn up, and when they find that there bird made £20 it would probabley be the last bird given for the club sale. If any one has any good ideas on how to generate money for club funds without pigeon sales should post up and help other small clubs out.

Agree with that, A club member donated a bird, but couldn't make it to the sale his young bird made about £17 His results for the last few seasons was amazing, topping the fed so many times, Never been out of top ten fed, wining all the fed avs and everything and even scored 1st and 2nd MYC, If people would have bothered coming to our sale someone would have got a good bird, It actually went on to wining the Yb breeder buyer =P
