pigeon359 Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 And you all wondered why the full list of birds left wasn’t put up earlier? Probably too embarrassed I would guess! Take off the 38 JOSC birds which are on the list that Billy donated and you will be left with 188 birds out of the original 458 birds entered. That’s 270 birds lost that cant even last training up to 50 miles and bred from fanciers best birds. How many did he donate, 100, 200? Then the losses are even worse than the first figures if there are only 38 of these left too. This whole thing has been a farce from start to finish and he knows that. Can you imagine the flack that would have occurred if he had put the list up earlier when birds were vanishing in abundance from 15, 20 mile stages? All of that on top of everything else would have been quite an embarrassment I reckon. As far as I am concerned I have literally thrown away £400 on 4 birds entered and will never be part of this sham again. I feel for the JSL Services lads who entered 12 birds and not one even made it past the training stage! We all expect to lose a bird here and there but WOW……….No one can say that 270 birds just weren’t up to the job flying UP to 50 mile when they are supposedly bred from the best of the best! Not only has Billy messed this whole thing up for himself but it has put a damper on anyone else in the future even attempting to organise a OLR. He cant stop birds going awol and I am not saying the losses are his fault entirely as we all know the hazards that lie ahead of our birds even in training but this on top of everything else has finished OLR as far as I am concerned. Will there be any birds left at all by the time the final race comes? Not many I would guess and here was all the neighbours at Lamberton worrying about a 1000 cars invading their peacefull village when you will be lucky if there is even a handful!
vone Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Yip a disgrace not to be advising anyone. I'm astonished not to have any left at this stage. I'll be contacting him to see what he intends doing. 12 paid for in advance and delivered in perfect health on the last day along with another 10 young birds. Somthing went wrong that we have not been advised about. Couldn't fkn believe it when I checked the web site the day, a looked 4 times thinking a was on the wrong site LoL Anyway all the best to the birds. Individuals and syndicates that have survived. Ian McKay Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 From the Web Site:30 July 2013 - Hi all the birds are now all electronically tagged and there is a list of all the birds remaining under LOFT LIST Now that the birds are all ets tagged we had our first trainiing toss liberated at Alnwick 37 miles. The training result can be found under TRAINING RESULT. I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as I realise it took longer than anticipated to get the birds tagged and the info onto the web. Cheers Billy Pigeon Basics syndicate birds were delivered on the last day which gave him 17 weeks to Tag the birds Which is less than 4 a day :emoticon-0179-headbang:
cemetary Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 I have followed the one loft race thread from the start on pigeon basics, I have read all what's being put up by people, except the guy who is actually running the show, I think more information should have been put up long ago. and before any one try's to have a go at me, its only my IMO, so back off. Me, am glad after all the hassle, I didn't enter my hard earned cash into it. But the best owe luck to who is left, come on the FORUM GUYS.

Could it be that right from the word go the birds started to vanish and rather than be out £1.40 a bird for the ets ring he decided to leave it nearer to the hot spots for fear of being out of pocket even more? Possibly trying to cut corners to save a bob or two since the entries and profit weren't to be as expected? From the 270 birds lost WITHOUT ets rings on he has now saved himself £300 and that's not including the savings on his own birds that were lost too? Not saying this is how it did go down but something isn't right and just a personal thought of my own........As for losses, very little has been said regarding the aviary being blown off during the gales we had recently so has this something to do with the amount of birds missing? Were there lots of birds missing then that he didn't want to mention for fear of being held libel for them in the form of a refund? ETS printouts would have shown early on what was missing so is this whole thing just a massive cover-up?Could be wrong in both these assumptions but if Billy wont provide any information on this whole sham then what are we meant to think?

peter2010 Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 I thought they were doing a good job with the olr but come on where is it situated the Bermuda Triangle 270 missing the posts I read which we're on the olr website about training made out everything was going great but Has something else caused this huge loss in birds which the people paying deserve to know as its not just a few pound were talking about
Guest IB Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 SNFC met with Billy on 15/4/13, and two things spring to mind from that meeting relevant to this thread. Not the words Billy used, these are my recollections of what he told us: (1) 'there were a lot of peregrines both there, and north of Lamberton, he could see them when driving down'. (2) 'the birds were recorded on ETS both when leaving and again when entering the loft... the way they went out and the way they came back in were different - and this was how he kept track of what birds were in the loft.'

Guest bigda Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 are the one loft birds transferd to billy, if not has any of the lost birds been reported
Delboy Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 Its a pity how things have went up til now with the SOLR. Billy hasn't had a chance with all the planning and red tape hes had to deal with, however, you only make enemies if you haven't complete transparency for your entrants. This is the exact same thing that's happened with the SNFC in recent years, a lot of cloak and dagger stuff imo. I hope everything works out and we can learn from our mistakes to take forward to the SOLR for next year.
