JohnQuinn Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 Possible should have a darkness class , since its more popular to fly this system ,move with the times I would have increased the number of nest flights required from 2 to 4, think that should be the case at all shows. Jmo
b.massey Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 I'd hope that who ever was asked to judge could tell what's a darkness yb compared to a late bred
Delboy Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 I'd hope that who ever was asked to judge could tell what's a darkness yb compared to a late bred Spot on
walterboswell59 Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 guys i had a judge tell me that my bird got 2nd prize because its end flight was only half way up but said my bird was the better handler go figure
Delboy Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 guys i had a judge tell me that my bird got 2nd prize because its end flight was only half way up but said my bird was the better handler go figure Some are like that Walter but as I said, top judges would overlook this nowadays imo. A show is only as good as the calibre of judge it has . I know its only a bit of fun in the winter months but its still nice to get a card or 2 as well.
dms5686 Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 I'd hope that who ever was asked to judge could tell what's a darkness yb compared to a late bredA lot of judges cant even tell the diffrence between a dipped doo and a racer so no chance of them telling between a latebred and a darkness
hotrod Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 guys i had a judge tell me that my bird got 2nd prize because its end flight was only half way up but said my bird was the better handler go figure If I was judging a show and came across say 4 top pigeons ,you have to pick your 1.2.3.4 , so if say 2 are right through moult and 2 aren't , then it's common sence to mark them down for be it flights half way up . A racing fret , an odd louse . But if one pigeon stood out and even if it had 2 or 3 to go ,then I wouldn't hesitate to give it first.
b.massey Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 A lot of judges cant even tell the diffrence between a dipped doo and a racer so no chance of them telling between a latebred and a darkness Boo hoo eh

JohnQuinn Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 A lot of judges cant even tell the diffrence between a dipped doo and a racer so no chance of them telling between a latebred and a darkness Very true Malcolm, often happens when a fancier has had a good year on the road so the Show Organisers Assume they know everything about doos and invite them to judge. Must say though that it doesn't bother me in the slightest if a dipped do wins their class as it is just a day out for me during a long boring winter and the doos, despite being dipped, are often the best looking in the class anyway as the fancier takes great care of how he presents his birds in the show. Its usually the "Likeliest" classes have the largest entry of dipped doos, likeliest to do what is another matter though lol
