Anyone read about a Liverpool member got suspended for having caffeine in his droppings after a random drug test.

Yup have read it , guess the R.P.R.A needs to clearly list each drug that is prohibited , caffine can exist naturally in seeds do we ban these seeds as well ?????

It does make you think I don’t like giving my birds antibiotics, and always go for the natural product option. Now you don’t know if you’re in the position of being classed as an RPRA drug cheat without even knowing or realising.

very true statement this one .occasionaly give diffrent vegetables or try new products ,but have no idea if the contents break any rules or not ?

reading up on cafeine it can be added to medications to speed results up ............. We can't test every product we use , nor is every product listed on most supplements / medications

Caffeine is known in the sporting world as a natural sports enhancer, wouldn't the word NATURAL take the drug out of the equasion? What is the the interesting thing here a greyhound specialist took one set of the droppings, why hasn't the RPRA got people trained for this procedure? I think if the chap took them to court he'd win the day personally

Just read the full post (another site)on this subject and must admit in my opinion it bloody stinks to high hell and is completely out of order what the RPRA have done to this fancier.If the product is not on the banned list how can anyone be banned for using it,the three tonics for want of a better word are widely used by many pigeon fanciers and are on sale for everyone to see including the RPRA.I have in the past have use one in particular which I purchased at the Blackpool show, also use another when I showed Budgerigars.

This again in my opinion and wants sorted sooner rather than later.

For some reason the RPRA will never publish a list of banned substances which in my opinion puts the fancy in a catch 22 situation

I know in the eyes of the law,ignorance is no excuse but surely a governing body such as the RPRA should have a duty to keep it's members informed.ie.banned substances.Have the SHU,NEHU,IHU,NWHU and WHU got a similar list,was the confederation dumped a while back ?? so each could have their own ideas so to say.

I can remember reading a few years ago about a French fancier who gave his birds a coffee bean each on the night of basketing.

There can be nothing more natural than a bean grown in a field.

I think the RPRA are also in a catch 22 situation. If they do publish such a list there's peeps out there that'll chance their arm and use them.

yip they need to get there liste made up and not make it up as they go on . I beleive some pigeon tonics etc have caffeine in them

so the rpra takes money from sellers who in turn are allowed to sell

this banned substance legitimatly to fanciers then the tossers in the rpra bann people for using a product they are activly promoting by allowing it to be advertised in there publication . The fancier should sue the ars of them , thats a bit like the police stopping you in your car offering you a large glass of spirits then breathalising you ,

i dont think the caffeine is the problem its the milk and two sugars

i read this post as it happend,and on one of the posts it seems that in america they did tests to see how long and how much caffeine was needed to make a difference and the conclusion was that unless you give it on the day of the race it is no help as it dissipates at a rate of 50% an hour the post was on page 11 take a look it was a good read.
