abbeypap Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 This is a series of 6 photographs taken by a friend of mine on a main road in Kendal, August 2012. Can't believe people actually stood by and watched the Peregrine catch, pluck and eat the pigeon while it was still living. Would people have stepped in if it was a dog with a cat or a dog with a puppy? probably

REDROCKET Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 This bird will think nothing of onlookers as it was in no danger so will do the same time and again.

abbeypap Posted September 10, 2012 Author Report Posted September 10, 2012 Couldn't give my friend into trouble for taking the photo's I was just grateful she could. She gets sick at the sight of blood and faints so I thanked her and asked if it was ok to post them. There was a circle of people of varying ages all standing taking photos with there mobiles and watching for a while then she said they wandered off. She went to her office and had a work mate remove the pigeons remains but no one checked for a ring. So we will never know if it was feral or a homing pigeon not that it matters. The picture shows that our pigeons are prey in both the skies over towns and the open fields.
billt Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 Only goes to prove the general public's view of pigeons, they spend hours watching the web cams at percy nests around the Cities, That percy is a youngster and is no doubt bred in town hence no fear of humans, they are not that tame with me, I wouldn't be able to get that good a shot here
