W.D. Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 Best advice I ever heard was from the late Bobby Carruthers on a panel, and it was one he applied to himself, ''He stopped buying all the doo papers, and books, and learned to read what the doos needed and when.''Still remember where he said it too, Allanton Miners Welfare.

Delboy Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 A long rest after a hard fly does the birds good.Wait till they ve thrown a flight before you send them again, then you know they have recovered.eg I sent a pigeon to Gretna (76 miles ) and lost it for almost 4 weeks, as soon as she threw a flight i started training her and jumped her into Tours 630 miles ( my pooler ) She came like a rocket to win 11th Open SNFC

frank-123 Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 Always shake the winner's hand and say well done. If you cant take getting beat or the heavy losses get out.
andy Burgess Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 no snippets as such ,as a novice i asked questions of others in club and on here .had a visit off a site member "Mosslands" Peter ,and he "asked me questions" why i done things such a way ,how were returns etc,and how were my results .he taught me to ask questions of myself ,and along with a little guidance i became a better ,happier fancier .look on him now more as a big Brother figure .

WHITTY Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 MY BROTHER TOLD ME NEVER PUT YOU EGGS IN ONE BASKET AND HANSOM IS AS HANSOM DOES YOUNG BIRDS SHOULD BE IN THE LOFT OR IN THE AIR OR IN THE BASKET YOU WONT GO FAR WRONG
ALF Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 Do as I do treat it as a hobby (some people take pigeons far too serious sometimes)and if you pick up a wee bit of pool money here and there all the better but most of all just enjoy yer pigeons and forget any you lose and just worry about what you have left in the loft
