ally mac Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 The BBC have some video of a big cat in Argyll on the news tonight. Me and 2 work mates saw one a few years ago coming home from work. Big black puma type thing. Its amazing how few people believe you when you tell them though. Think this footage might prove the doubters wrong.

Novice Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Just viewed the clip---looks pretty distant but definately large. Also noted an attack on a horse in south Ayrshire thought to be by a Puma.
ally mac Posted July 28, 2009 Author Report Posted July 28, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_and_west/8172064.stm Thats the one Alan, exactly as we saw it, longer than a dog with long tail, it crossed the road about 50ft in front of our car, I was real chuffed to see it as I always thought they were around

Blue Chequer Pied Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 i totally believe this, been studying sightings for years, there are loads of books on the subject and a couple of websites. Glad you have sen one...if only i had too... any chance of posting a link??? Lots of sightings up here too. There are black cats living up here that are hybrid between domestic cats and Scottish wild cats allegedly but there are too many of them in my opinion and they are almost a breed in their own right. I have some really good books on the subject. The truth is out there. Paul

I'm part way through reading a book on them, by a woman that caught some, kept them and bred off them.
sharkfin Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Theres been sightings of big cats in the Borders for years from Bobcats to black panther/leopard type cats.I grew up in Barrhead in Renfrewshire 40yrs ago while out with a couple of lurchers on the Glenifer Braes we saw a Puma that was Known as the Lugton Puma so I think we would all be surprised whats out there.Danny
chickadee Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 We seen one in Glenrothes area a couple of years ago while walking the dogs, even the kids seen it and judged it size on our staffie. It was a lot bigger as it was noticeably bigger when our staffie was closer to us than it was. Anyone that knows our staffie and it's nature knows what she is like with cats it hates cats and would have gone for it but it didn't, I think it must have sensed it:-/ There was one reported in Cupar and made the headlines at the time :-/
mac1 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 these panther type have been seen several times in county durham

joe61 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 see if numpty wants to take it for a 50 mile toss ;D ;D ;D oh happy days
Guest strapper Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 all these big cats were beleived to be released in the 60,s when it was the in thing for some pop stars and gangland crims to have them...which was obviously smuggled in. also some were from circuses that had come up against hard times and couldnt afford vet and food bills, and old cats that were no longer any use to them. also new rules come into force about keeping large animals. there are too many large forrest area,s for most to be seen..but they are supposedly breeding freely, mainly feeding on deer and other large animals like foxes, and the occassional farm animal.
Guest Owen Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Now we have imigrant cats doing the job that our cats should be doing. ;D ;D ;D

I'm part way through reading a book on them, by a woman that caught some, kept them and bred off them. I have that book, it is fascinating. I grew up 4 miles from Kellas and my mother told me they were quite common when she was young. Her grand-father was a forrester and they were all aware of them and saw them regularly. Paul.

b.massey Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 About 5 years ago we were out hunting with the lamps at night with lurchers and we seen something in the distance and was un sure what it was. Let both dogs off after it and we heard a squelle and both dogs came running back. At first I thought it was a badger but it was too big and long to be that and now believe it was a big cat. Lesson learned for dogs. Think it was my first and last time out hunting
