Very cold north east wind and heavy rain. I have had two birds back this morning and I can't work out how they could have managed it. I picked one of them up and he felt like a paper bag plus the fact he was wet through. He left here Friday in lovely condition but poor little devil has had a really bad time.

Last week I lost a two year old cock that had 1st, 3rd and 5th Fed behind him. This week I have lost about 8 birds with a heck of a lot of top Fed positions behind them. I feel really annoyed with myself for being so greedy and stupid. OK I won the race quite easily but I would trade the win for my birds back.

Woke at 0615 this morning, sun was shining but when I looked out window there was hard frost on the loft roof. Didn't stop birds exercising an hour or so later, despite bitterly cold north easterly wind blowing. Still much the same just now except my home central heating is back on.
