Ian McKay Posted January 2, 2012 Report Posted January 2, 2012 Fraser Smith is 3 and a half and lives in my hometown, Forres in Morayshire. He suffers from 'Retinoblastoma' (cancer of the eyes). His family are trying to raise money to send him to Disneyland before he looses his sight completely. Fraser has already lost one of his eyes and now has tunnel vision in the other one. He was diagnosed at just 8 weeks of age and has been receiving treatment ever since. His sight is deteriorating and his family are desperate to give him some memories before he loses it completely. Fraser still has a lot of treatment ahead of him. He is having to get a special helmet fitted as he is prone to falling over, he has been tested for muscular dystrophy due to having weak leg muscles. Fraser will have to have plastic surgery of his blind eye to have a prosthetic eye fitted. This requires his eye to be stitched and stapled and have silicone shells inserted to to stretch it. All this along with the 'chemotherapy' that he has had in the past is a lot for a small boy to cope with. I would like to thank everyone for their kind donations. I would also like to ask that the members dig deep and help raise as much as we can for this young boy. I am confident that the members of Pigeon basics will do Fraser and the family proud. Many Thanks,Paul Thomson. Blue Chequer Pied Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my friends for donating birds for this great cause. I would also like to thank Ian Mckay and the Pigeonbasics team for letting me have this sale on here. Being a father myself I cannot comprehend the struggles that some parents have with children who are ill and the pain they have to endure. The thought of my children or anybody's children suffering is an appauling thought. I think that if we can help in any way, to give an child who is ill, any form of joy, pleasure or comfort then it is a pleasure for me to be able to do so. As ever the 'doo-men' have rallied round and for that I will be forever grateful. Fraser will loose his sight completely, of that there is no doubt. What the family are doing is fund raising to enable them to take him to Disney World to try to give him some lasting memories before his sight deteriorates further. This brave little lad has been getting treatment since he was 8 weeks of age including cheimo injections into his eyes and countless trips from Forres down to Birmingham. Once again thankyou to everyone involved and please dig deep again and get bidding. Paul Thomson.
