Wiley Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 Has anyone looked at the compositions of these corns, or tried them. Was recently looking at some of the Garvo chicken feeds and seem a very good composition for sprint and young bird racing at half the price of pigeons corn also. Food for thought
geordie1234 Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 Interesting wonder how they would fare on it, if they can make a bag half the price we pay for pigeon food we are getting ripped of big time

Guest TAMMY_1 Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 is there much pellets in these feeds we get some ready mixed chicken feeds for ours and I certainly would not consider giving them to our pigeons
andy Burgess Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 we get some ready mixed chicken feeds for ours and I certainly would not consider giving them to our pigeons can i ask why ??
Guest strapper Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 i used chicken pellets this year and it didnt do my birds any harm...as i topped the fed using them.mixed in with my racing mix. at the moment im using a mix for £6 a 25kg bag..mixed in with my winter mix.
Wiley Posted December 18, 2011 Author Report Posted December 18, 2011 JAM, there was no pellets in these corns the mixture I was looking out contained a lot of wheat, Barley At about roughly 20% each with I'd say 30% maize, a small percentage of oats and sunflower and buckwheat. Obviously more fatty seeds would need to be added at the end of the week but the constitution of the grains I personally felt would make a good base mixture

Guest strapper Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 is this purely to bulk the feed up Paul ,or is there another reason ?? hi andy m8...to make it cheaper to feed them lolbut i find they have good droppings from it too...something we all seem to want . i know a few uses it ,i think around £6 a bag so cheap to feed it...i use the one with pellets and one without.mixed with my usual mixture which is usually high protein economy.

Roland Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 I am using two different poultry corn mixes at moment. No pellets at all ... though I am hearing some good results regards pellets fed at 15%.One has a little maize too, both have oats, and wheat and barley is also present. £6 40 bag. a £8 bag, a little heavier, and a £12 bag of Blue Ribbon, that smells of aniseed. all 25 ks. so works out just under £9 25 K. They eat every bit. Feather and condition is superb, and most have moulted out a treat. Will buy the same this week ... plus some maize and hemp which I will add a little at night if it ever gets cold around here.
Roland Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 about here there s only the bags of pellets or bags of mixed corn eg wheat & cut maize so sounds like them hens getting some good feed lol dont worry price will soon be going up just like doo feed Yep, and I think mine are faring very well on it. :egyptian:
Guest paulrstokes Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 Last year I had all my early bred youngsters on 40% farm beans at £5.00 per sack, 40% barley at $5.90 per sack and 20% layers pellats at £6.00 per sack. I could not stop them flying, as the racing season approached moved them onto a mix and they did not fly nearly as well./ 2012 may well race them on the cheap mix and see

Wiley Posted December 19, 2011 Author Report Posted December 19, 2011 thanks it sounds good what was the quality of the grain you would imagine good if chickens were meant for human consumption The corn was made by Garvo so equally good as Versa Laga and a lot better then any of the English brands
