Now that the dust has settled, and some fanciers are celebrating their success, while others are licking their wounds and asking "what went wrong?"

Will this National be classed as a Good race, or a Bad race? and explain why?

Thank Youhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/scotland.gif

think its still early for reflection with doos working home already this morning, east wind and 300 plus miles were always going to be a problem for the national and also the federation birds imo. :(

From reports it would appear the 50% of the convoy made it.Good luck and congratulations to the Winners the rest of us we will just have to try that we bit harder. When the East Wind blows they end up in Ireland and come up a route that they dont know.

disaster race pigeons that have won in the national and not home yet. Why go to a race piont in the west of the coutry when we have been racing down the east all season

I lost my 1 from 1 so 100% loss. Cant understand why we moved further to the west when we had birds reported in Ireland last year from Bovingdon which is 15 miles east of Marlborough??????

Mibe learn us to do our homework intead of listening to the wise men in the South who conned us at the AGM by waving sheets of paper n telling us all it was situated to the East of Newbury. High time race-points were put down in writing so everyone can do their own research before the AGM.

Bobby perhaps the losses are part down to moving to the centre/west of the country, for me though far too many experienced doos to come for the wind and location to get the blame .

Is it just a coincidence that the K-Index was high yesterday and returns are only sitting around the 20-30%????. Perhaps a combination of all the different factors below has contributed to the worst inland national known.

North east wind

Change of liberation direction

K-Index being high

And 5500 doos in the liberation from all different areas of Scotland with the 3 problems above which doesn't help with orientation.

Its going to kill the entry for the rest of the channel races and begs the question??? of Should so many potential channel pigeons be liberated from the same location at the same time, last year it was Eastbourne that killed the channel entries this year Marlbourgh. And remember the SNFC is formed for long distance racing and yet it is getting destroyed by races that are a blight on the club, and yes i want to win an Inland national but not at the cost of poor entries from the channel.

Hope you get more doos back Bobby.

Not that clued up on K Index so cant comment. Bovingdon was the racepoint last year that put paid to the channel entries and maybe we should restrict the inland races to yearlings so then it would not have such an effect on entries later for the channel. Either that or drop them altogether and let the Feds organise the inland programme. Bit of thinking to do for folk before the AGM then.

What is K Index?

Not that great myself Brian on the K Index, to do with Solar Flares and radiation,

Some good points you make regarding having a yearling National thus protecting entries to the channel races and more so the Gold cup race.

Aye maybe worth thinking about Gareth, at least I got my one for Tours home this morning so he,s got a month to recover.

Was just speaking to secretary in an essex club when reporting a pigeon. They had bad races from both Dunbar and Berwick. They had a tail wind!!

From reading the many posts regarding the first SNFC Inland race, it seems there are a great deal of fanciers from the East with massive losses, this may support the concerns folks had about the race point being too far to the Westhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0126-nerd.gif JMO

Another similar race from our next SNFC Inland race from Eastbourne, and the Channel races will sufferhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0138-thinking.gifIMO

Think the channel races have already been hit as most folk would have had their candidates at this one. I know I did. :emoticon-0179-headbang: :emoticon-0179-headbang: :emoticon-0179-headbang:
