billt Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 When I was 7yrs. cut through a Church yard on the way home from school there was a youngster had come down from its nest so I took it home, that was 60yrs. ago so I guess I'm hooked
sapper756 Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Back in 1992 I started getting interested in my dads pigeons, use to go training with him, and even took them myself for a training toss. Then would accompany him to the Friday night basketing, which in turn, would then spend every Saturday around at his loft waiting for the race birds to come home. That was it, I was hookedhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif So in 1994 I got myself a 12ft x 12ft loft, and bought 6 Buschaert youngsters from John Crowder, the rest they say is historyhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif
Fair Play Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Had been out of the pigeon game for over 25yrs and when I retired I built a large garden shed and my mate kept on at me to convert it into a loft that was the start sadly he is no longer with us so I suppose I will just keep going till we we meet up somewhere and catch up where we left off

kelly tom Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 I was married on 29th August 1970,my late father in law Jock Stirling from Burnbank was waiting on his young birds the day we got married.I lived with my in laws for 4 years while we were waiting for a house and it took off from there.I moved to England 25 years ago ,i still have the doos and we celebrated 40 years married this year.
rasbull Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 My dad kept them all his life. He was disabled so used to help when I was younger. As he deteriorated my interest grew and finally we went into partnership. He passed away in 1999. I continued on my own for 3 years before I moved house. The garden of the new house was too small for a loft. I moved back to my old address in 2008 and restarted in the sport....best decision I have ever made!
