shweet Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Do you let your birds out during moulting or keep them locked up ? If you let them out , how much. If not when do you start to let them out again ?Thanks Wayne.
Guest IB Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 When the birds are heavy in moult they don't seem all that fussed in going out, but it is a bit early in the year to think about locking them up I think, the short daylight hours will be with us soon enough. But weather permitting, I still try to get them out at weekends.

gulkie Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 I split all my birds after the last race and once they are in a heavy moultI keep them in ,when they are through the heaviest of the moult I let them out once a week for a bath ,and it gives the bops less food, when they are in a heavy moult they won'tfly much anyway.
peterpau Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 I try and get mine out every day, as often as I can, 365 days a year.My young 'uns took half an hour to come out, but when they did, they still flew for over 2 hours tonight
Guest peter.j Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 mine are on open hole 365 days a year except wednesday and saturday during racing season if they want to go out they will

Guest mick bowler Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 They go out occasionally, but too risky with Percy being in abundance this time of year, he picked one off with ease last week or week before. I give them buttermilk with cinnamon twice a week, the feathers drop out of them.

billt Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Can't believe what I read, Warm water in the baths, Mine are on open loft 24/7, ice cold bath water and they dive in, if I shut mine up for a while I know they would be hawk bait when I let them out, moulting is a natural thing that all birds do, don't make it complicated because it isn't
