Tony C Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Don’t think it would be such a bad idea to list liberation sites where peregrine’s are known to be present. Most of the liberation sites are used week in and week out throughout the season and like any animal it doesn’t take them long to suss out a food source. Perhaps its time we should at least double the amount of lib sites we have and like farmers rotate annually letting one go fallow so to speak, this way every other generation of hawks wont be shown by their parents where to hunt. Would this help?
andy Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 COLDSTREAM, OTTERBURN, WAKEFIELD are 3 lib sites where there is a peregrine presence.
Guest mick bowler Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 I'd say any south UK coast lib site has Peregrines. Best way would be to liberate a "pre-race team", decoys if you like.
Guest 67ghirl Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Basically anywhere in the Scottish Borders! If not at the site within a few miles and within 'sight'
greenlands Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Good post Tony. Keep away from anywhere in Cumbria,to be honest I think there are no feds. liberate here, there are more Peregrines than dog s**t in this area. Lindsay.
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 How about all convoyers doing this before each liberation, when our convoyer called for the birds last week he was telling us that around 15 minutes before he liberates our birds he lets off rockets at the front and rear of the lorry as he says this soon moves any BOP that might be waiting for the birds to be libbed.

Lanarkshire is the only Scottish Fed that I know of that tried this. Have posted before that I would like to see all transporters carry these, and also the flashing lights that are also said to be a deterent. I don't keep pigeons to feed BOP., so I'll try anything that helps keep birds safe from attack. .
Roland Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Mores the pity ... regards: Quote: Lanarkshire is the only Scottish Fed that I know of that tried this. Have posted before that I would like to see all transporters carry these, and also the flashing lights that are also said to be a deterent. I think this ought to be compulsory. However I fear that they would soon get use to this and just start to roll up 15 minutes later after the rockets (Ballon) goes up. A tell tale sign. They aren't stupid. ... or they possibly jus then wait down the road a bit.
boxer Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 NOT MANY PEOPLE HAVE POSTED ON THIS THREAD BUT THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAVE NAMED SO MANY PEREGRINE,S INJUST THOSE AREA,S SO WHY CANT THE RSPB SEE THAT THERE IS WAY TO MANY.
