JohnQuinn Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 dont think honest discussion will discredit the club john. :) No but ill advised remarks about the conduct of officials will!
Delboy Posted July 6, 2010 Author Report Posted July 6, 2010 Its quite funny here that nobody agrees with the present programme.

alec guinness Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Its quite funny here that nobody agrees with the present programme. not anybodys fault del,the nationals are not for the faint hearted, more miles with less doos is not the answer though.
lanarkshire lad Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 For me i would like to see one inland nat from Eastbourne as it gets well supported and is an ideal distance for an inland nat imo.I would drop ypres as its only another 50mls further than eastbourne. The Gold cup i would keep it at reims.Clermont for the fed duplication giving its members a 500mls+ race and Bourges as the longest as i think there are a few members of the nat looking for a good long one.
alec guinness Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 are you thinking of moving to Larkhall ;) the more the merrier centre of the universe, very tempting gareth, but will just hang about the campsies.

andy Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Ypres is a great education for pigeons crossing the chanel for the first time and is just about the right distance. Agree Andy, Also Ideal for the Eastbourne doos to go back
lanarkshire lad Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Ypres is a great education for pigeons crossing the chanel for the first time and is just about the right distance. I dont think it matters pigeons went to falaise rennes avranches for the first time in days gone by and managed it ok then and crossed at the widest stretch of water.

frank-123 Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 food for thought frank, think the main thinking on this thread is that most feel we have 1 or 2 races too many. but can the national afford to lose 5000 birds inland national and still go 600 miles for 200 birds max
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 i think they should keep both inland races as a lot of fliers have sprint middle distance birds.it gives them a chance to race at national level. i don,t think dropping any of the races is a good idea .as we only send to the races we want to send to.also both inland races will give the S.N.F.C. more profit. it would be good to see them put it in to a better transporter Gary i use to believe the same as you about the inland nationals being a stepping stone for new members sending to the channel races but going by the birdages that have been sent to the channel this has not happened.+++Too many eggs from all corners of Scotland are in the one basket when it comes to the inland nationals and when a poor/bad race is experienced by these fanciers then it has dire consequences for the birdages that are sent to the races that count, i.e. the Channel race's. JMO
alec guinness Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 but can the national afford to lose 5000 birds inland national and still go 600 miles for 200 birds max important to get the mix right frank, think tradition will dictate that there will always be a 600 mile race, and yes there should be imo!!!!
VMS Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 We are losing birdage for the channel races because there are too many of them. Total nonsense having two national clubs in Scotland and the birdage proves that.Lets stop the nonsense and get back to the good auld days Simple solution Del,the SNFC should adopt the any union rule.
JADE Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 think we need to drop one inland national. they get well supported but the losses seem to be high. Reims seems about right for Gold Cup tho I dont see why date has to be set in stone. Tours is about the right distance for the longest race ideally as the last race but i am aware we have to tie in with another organisation. Whether their is room for both Ypres and Clermont is a hard one. Ypres seems to be popular but probably because it is shorter and ideal for widowers. It is also off line and ghives distorted distances to some members. The entries would obviously increase if there was only one national club but it dont look like that is going to happen in the next couple of years. It will eventually though forced by numbers or rather lack of!!
Delboy Posted July 6, 2010 Author Report Posted July 6, 2010 Simple solution Del,the SNFC should adopt the any union rule. Just pay the *expletive removed* £12 like everybody else and stop all this crap
alec guinness Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Just pay the *expletive removed* £12 like everybody else and stop all this crap would make sense del but there are a few that cant.
Chris Little Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Here goes No inland nationals, why on earth they appeared in the first place is beyond me. Bet our fore fathers who created the mighty SNFC are summersaulting in their graves at the pathetic emphasis on sprint races....as for Ypres, well I thought that was supposed to be a one off in 2008 FalaiseRennesNiortFalaise What was the main deciding factor in changing the overall direction of line of flight in the nationals. The Gold Cup race has been from Rennes.... La Ferte Bernard, Messac, Alencon , Reims doesn't seem to have the same stigma

Chris Little Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Ooops, sorry Del.... many a fine performance from Liege
Delboy Posted July 6, 2010 Author Report Posted July 6, 2010 I can understand Chris wanting these race points as the Solway have a penalty kick every race then but saying that, they were still 2nd Open in Liege so imo the further east we go, the fairer for all ( and thats been proven )
