Guest Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 i have an average size loft , yb , widow cocks , and natural pairs . ybs and widow cocks on open door , natural birds trap via sputnik , access to electricity . how much would it cost to set up ? :
swilcox Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 North Wales Novice, it might not be the ideal system, You may prefer to keep your clock!!!
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 i have an average size loft , yb , widow cocks , and natural pairs . ybs and widow cocks on open door , natural birds trap via sputnik , access to electricity . how much would it cost to set up ? : the price was on here somewhere before think it was between 400 and 500 quid, the only thing that i dont like is the £1-50 for a ring which can mount up if you lose a lot of birds
Pompey Mick Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Is there a Race Program available that will run ETS and Conventional clocks together.
Guest Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 the price was on here somewhere before think it was between 400 and 500 quid, the only thing that i dont like is the £1-50 for a ring which can mount up if you lose a lot of birds unikon system £450 rings £1.20 square peg hes not worth anything
Guest Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Winspeed works with both Conventional and ETS. The readings from the Manual clocks are put in the puter by hand then winspeed works the results out from there
T_T Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Hi All, Yes, I also think like TAMMY_1. To me, the price of rings could be the major stumbling block with this system. £1:20-£1:50 a ring plus registration ring 30p ? so we could be looking at ALMOST £2:00 a pigeon before it even takes off. Add to that Flyaways, off the shed losses and yb losses racing, could be very costly to some of us, even with selective breeding because even good pigeons get lost.
Guest Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 : Well stu i would rather use the clock , anytime ! but was still interested to know approx costing? If its £450.oo as posted above i would be out of the sport , this is my 3rd year with the birds and bet i have not yet spent that much on birds .equipment ,feeding and racing.
Guest Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 ;D ps i do not scrimp on health and feeding ! tam & clocky u r right i dont raise many ybs but lost 17ish this season alone £35 ish up the spout on rings alone ?

Guest Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Thanks Homer that is interesting, haven't heard anything about it in the States. May be a good addition to the range.
Guest Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 Cost shouldn't be an issue anymore. Laurieston club and Plean club are the latest Scottish clubs to apply for an 'awards for all' Lottery grant to fit the whole club with their chosen system, Unikon for Laurieston and Tauris for Plean. The systems belong to the club, not the fancier, and for new starts its definitely a winner because the club is providing the most modern clocking system ... for free. Level playing field for all, clock-wise anyhow. Make sure you get a deal from your supplier ...... ;D

A level playing field clock wise but it will make no difference to who does the winning I can guarantee that...
square_peg Posted October 23, 2006 Author Report Posted October 23, 2006 GOOD UNBIASED DEMO WELL SHOWN ANSWERED ALL QUESTIONS HONESTLY NO SHOUTING NO ARGUEING JUST GOOD TALKING,EVEN THE NOT SO GOOD ETS BITS. STILL DONT KNOW IF IM FOR IT ,BUT NOT AGAINST IT. AS I SAID ON THE NIGHT , I THOUGHT THE SYSTEM GAVE YOU A RESULT WHEN ALL THE CLOCKS WERE READ. COST. £460 NO POWER IN LOFT , CAR BATTERY OR POWER PACK DOWN SIDE COST OFF RINGS WILL IT GET WORSE WHEN "NORMAL" RINGS HAVE ETS CHIP IN THEM. UP SIDE TRAINING LATE COMERS WONT EVER BE CAUGHT AGAIN PROGRESS DONT KNOW
andy Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 READING THROUGH THE POSTS ON ETS, A LOT OF FANCIERS SEEM TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT RING PRICES. IF YOU HAVE TO BUY 50 RINGS FOR YOUR YOUNGSTERS AT THE START OF THE SEASON, COST £60, HOW MANY OF YOU GUYS GO FOR A PINT ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON EVERY WEEK? MAYBE SPEND £15-£20, HAVE A FIVER OR TENNER ON THE HORSES AND LOSE!! COS I DO MOST WEEKS......I REST MY CASE...........

TOTALLY AGREE LETS FACE IT IF A DOO AINT WORTH A£1.20 RING THEN IT SHOULD'NT BE IN THE DOOKIT. IF YOU SPEND £10 A MONTH IN THE CLOSE SEASON ON RINGS THATS THEM ALL BOUGHT BEFORE THE RACING STARTS
