cemetary Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 I cant understand why they are going down that route if they lost all these pigeons last year, more thought i think on the route to fly. More :'( :'( to follow i think. Does it make any difference where the birds fly from, percy is always there aboots. ??) ??)
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( GUARANTEED Delboy You should know that nothing is guaranteed in the pigeon game ;) and also could you please stop scaring the Lanarkshire men or we will have no birds at the first race. ;D ;D
ALF Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Delboy You should know that nothing is guaranteed in the pigeon game ;) and also could you please stop scaring the Lanarkshire men or we will have no birds at the first race. ;D ;D Do you think there will be many at the 1st race anyway Gareth because i certainly dont : :
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Do you think there will be many at the 1st race anyway because i certainly dont : : Hi Alf 4,000 which will be around 2,000 down from the usual, hopefully we will get a wind that will allow the pigeons to get upto the 1300 vel + which will help in the type of race we will get. Looking back to 2004 the racing down the west was really good starting at the first race the club sent 297 building upto 600 at the 4th race and by the time we got to 6th race the club was still sending 497. To be fair the winds were southerly and the pigeons done vel of 1300+ every week. Time will tell. In an ideal world we would should be sending our pigeons down the east but it was a democratic decission by the members to go down the West. cheers Gareth

If percy turns the old birds in dumfires you'll get most of them later on that night or the next day,but if he turns the convoy of y/b's early on in a race god help them : : Thats why i would much rather go east ( yes i know east has it's fair share of peregrines aswell ) but i would rather the pigeons had the whole country to try and get away from it and not just the width of 1 or 2 football fields that it will have coming up through the hills in the west Alan

johno Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 shu laid out in excess of 30k to have atudy done by an expert team. result was advice to avoid the west route and try to avoid certain time slots. around end of may. what do we do we go west and fly at all times. spend a fortune and ignore the result. welcome to doomanland. democratic vote means exactly that. everyone present had a vote. what they voted for is the crux of the matter. democracy it would appear seems to have very little considration for the birds and defininately pays no attention to well informed experts regardless of what they cost.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Whit number is that the Lanarkshire branch of the Samaritans? Close enough
wullie semple Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Not my ybs Wullie, my first race is Appleby.I cannot believe we are going to the solway area again.EFFIN MADNESS dell boy well you should have youngsters left to race my mate races with the midland fed and he told me it is like just starting up every year as he has lost 3/4 of his team every year and he is not alone as his members are the same some members have lost as much as 50 and 60
rednyellow Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 the midland fed had a great opportunity to move from the racepoints in the solway but alas same old story, word on the street was a move slightly east for the first 100 mls then cut back in appleby area, a stout horse for a stye brae required probably :( lets hope the pigeon gods give us a wee hand in 2008!
Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 East or west is a question that has dogged our sport for as long as i can remember.I have been away from birds for quite a number of years,so long until tonight i forgot some of the main reasons behind me quiting the sport. Now its all coming back to me. The midland fed is no longer the midland fed it was all these years ago. Our great sport was never about divide and conquer. those who are narrow minded enough to put there own needs to have an advantage before the needs of the birds simply don't deserve a vote. It is to these fancies who have over the years split the midland fed for there own gain that much of the blame lies. The pigeon gods will indeed be much needed
