Karl it looks like worms to me.

Why do you not use floatation because it would be easier to see?

Anyone who lets strays in with their birds are crazy. It could be anything from a ronk birds chasing the oposite sex to a very sick bird.

About the only use for strays is to use them to get practice with you microscope. Once they start to wander, they are not much good. They usually get lost when they are asked to race. It is best that you get shot of it. Even if the Owner gets it back, you need to watch out because it will probably show up again and can disrupt your birds. I tried widowhood hens some years ago. A local cock became a real problem because he would not leave them alone. It ended up with a row between me and it's Owner. He would not keep it away so I stuck into the garden. When I told him what I had done he was very upset. But then, what can you do?

No disrespect Karl - but the samples aren't good enough (therefore photos aren't) to tell if the bird has anything or nothing wrong with it

The main parts of the photos are undigested food/plantlife

your right frank they are trouble ..but only trouble if you dont respect the trouble that they can bring..health problems...but not all...as you i catch them straight away...if i ever decide to try a bird its put away from the rest till treated ..best tip for a novice never leave them in with your birds ..although they might be healthy ,they may also might not be...dont take the chance.

I dont dissagree  that they are not all bad doo,s, especialy the y/bds but i would put them in the same catagry as late breds how many do you have to go through to even find a half decent one i would say if your lucky about a couple of hundered i have in the past kept the odd one maybe to race a cock to but ALLWAYS  find that even if they are showing a bit of promise the day that transfere drops through the door so does the bird drop straight into someone else most straggs are what it says on the tin a Stragg
