you are better giving them a dummy run mate to make sure they take as don't leave it to the last minute  or you could end up with eggs smashed and all sorts and if they come of the eggs  as it will be getting colder

for my first round i was gona just open boxs put bowls in and let them pick there own mates only got 8 old birds rest are all late breads , so ill let them sort them selves out then ill no whats what,only thing is i got a white cock and he wants every box in loft dose me head in,

i'm gonna pair my racers up around the 5th of december and will have to get me dad to pair the stock up at the same time for my round

Eye always pair than split to see if they take up, havent had problems in the past, but trying something new this year,  :)

 

And what would that be Dougie?????? ;) or is it a secret? :P

We've not even split them up from this year never mind pairing them up again..

 

Split them in the next few weeks.. then first week in March pair them up..

Aiming for the 10th December if all goes to plan. Made a big mistake yesterday though. Put the pairs in there boxes to see if they accept each other etc, and decided to leave them until I come home from work. 2 hens totally scalped! Wont be doing that again. Well you learn by your mistakes I guess!

i m going to pair up in between xmas and new year alway found some don t pair up straight away seen some pairs not laying after 4 week especialy yearling hens and your always struggling to get youngsters away in time to get widows ready for racing
