Fed secretary's get paid to do results right? So why does it take some so long to post a result? The race is a saturday it takes 30 mins max to post a result. Yet they can't do it before a wednesday. Yet most others have a result up on a saturday after the race.

I don’t like to bring anyone down as it depends how quickly the clubs are getting their sheets to the secretary

But if the clubs are being quick then shouldn’t be taking long for a result! Nationals are even only 3/4 days

Exactly Brian. We dont even get a club result til saturday. Unless john posts it up. Which I'm happy at him doing. But the secretary's jobs seem to be do as little as possible.

I'll voice my opinion at the AGM club and fed.

I hope that now you are back into the pigeons you do more than vice your opinion. Put your name up and take on the job. It is of course not just about putting out results, there are other factors involved. I'm glad you have so much free time. I look forward to seeing your name in light in the very near future. :D

The time it took you to write that you could’ve had our result done Andy 😂

Your right there is more to it. But every sec has a similar role. Yet ours cant get a result out in 4 or 5 days. I'd hate to employ them fulltime.

Our result is done Derek. The last email arrived late Sunday evening. It was completed on Monday and posted, probably in the early hours of Tuesday morning. :D

You couldn't afford it and this is the crux of the matter.

The secretaries fulfil a position for their society, hold down a full time employment, are part of a wider family unit, etc. please simply prioritise these three for me and you will have the answer to your own question.

Secretaries receive phone calls at all times throughout the day and night and occasionally are rebuked for not having a speedy reply to that call, they have correspondence, accounts, etc to deal with as well as the results.

Today's life demands are more pressing than they once were for both societies and socially. A local Federation has a race secretary as well as a Federation secretary and this is probably the correct way to go. Reduce the volume of work for the individual and spread it between as many individuals as is practical.

How long would you work if you were "paid" £5 per day?

Apply too much pressure to these individuals and they will always opt for their family and the infrastructure of the sport will disappear before your very eyes. It will not be magic, but it will be "just like that". :)

19 club/fed races a year so 19 weeks of results. Weather permitting could be less. These people know what their day to day life involves before putting their name forward to do the sec job. They also know what's involved. It doesnt take days to make a result up. Other clubs and fed (majority) have them done on race day or the Sunday. It's now wednesday and nothing. Yes it takes time but not 5 days or more.

I'll put a £ to a penny our results are done and given to others by a tuesday at the latest. Almost guarentee it's done by Sunday. But its sheer laziness to send a copy to the paying members.

Its 2019 there are far more ways to communicate now than 12 years ago when I was going the results. But It was still out by saturday night.

I'll save it for AGM!

I hope your situation is resolved amicably and to your satisfaction without detriment to your Federation. Perhaps spreading the load is a solution. :)

I think that a result in 48 hrs after race is fair enough .not every Secretary has the free time to do it at the drop of a hat a life outside pigeons being a factor guys .

Greig, if they don't receive the paperwork until the Tuesday and sometimes postal delays Wednesday ? Thursday, I always check the postmark, then it can be difficult. My Fed has agreed to accept a provisional result taken from emailed club results, but these do require to be checked for the final result and this is close to being double work. Balance is key. :)

Right Greg let's look at this we start with our club sec the man is 80 years

Old. give him a little leeway

Our fed sec does not get all results until a Monday night she has also two young sons to look after on her own perhaps you should pause and think first. Jmo

What I'm saying though is its 2019 results for clubs are made in 20 mins an attachment on an email is 3 minutes if your club sec doesn't email it in within 48 hours then your clubs disqualified this will move things faster. There should be no need to post any result via royal mail.

It's done now but I'll be bringing it up at the AGM club and fed.

I hear you john. But I'll bet the club result is done on a saturday or sunday and everyone in east Calder will see it then. He has James's email it's no hardship to copy him in on the email sending it to the fed.

We seem to be the only fed/club or maybe just the members who dont see it til midweek.

But I've said I'll bring it up at the AGM cause I'll bet I'm not the only 1 thinking the same. But I'll voice my opinion.
