Yes the vote has been reset, so everyone (with the post count) need to cast their votes again. I will extend the voting to midnight on Sunday (for this week only).
-
I have mulled over the possibilities for judging the birds, and come to a decision. If you are a member who has a post count of more than 100 you will see a new board in this section of the forum. The polls are located there. I decided that to have a single judge defeats most of the point of running the show - we all should be able to get involved in all aspects of the competition. The vote being limited to members with certain post counts will cease the problem we found before - for obvious reasons. I'm sorry if you are a proud member, but don't fall into this category.

I am very disappointed to inform you that it seems that certain individuals have sought it upon themselves to run a mockery of this years online show. There are not one but multiple individuals who seem to have registered a number of new user accounts in order to vote for their bird, or birds in the two sections of the class run this week. The online show was set up as a bit of fun to occupy us through the winter months. There are no gains from the show, it is simply a bit of banter between friendly faces. I would appreciate it if those involved in this action would PM me, as I wish at this point not to name names. And I wish no-one to try and guess who these people are, nor name any of the new member accounts - as many of these are actually new members which I would like to welcome to the forum. I am currently arranging an alternate method of judging the pigeons.

If you're worried about paying over the internet, no problem. You can place your order on http://www.pigeonbasics.com/shop/ and choose the 'Print Order Form' option - simply print this page, and send to me with a cheque for the amount. Lovely

Dont forget to get your entries in to me by midnight tomorrow. Tipplers, Rollers, Westies, Show Racers, Modenas, Runts, Fantails, Blowers, Homers; if you've any of these (anything but a racing pigeon) you can enter this class

I think we've been over this before. For the purposes of the Pigeonbasics Online show: Racers - racing pigeon, birds that you have, or could send in your normal pigeon races 50-500 miles etc. Non-Racers - basically everything else; show racers, tipplers, rollers, westies, huntsmans, pouters, runts... etc, etc The reason for this classification is that historically we have had significantly less entries in the fancy/show bird classes, and thus it makes sense to run a class of 10 'non-racers' than classes for 2 show racers, 3 rollers, etc.

The links to the show are at the top of each page (and will be updated each week). See screen shot (towards the bottom).

I haven't used Photoshop more than a handful of times, but I've read numerous times that GIMP offers basically the tools to do the same things as it, but it is less intuitive (GIMP).
-
The first non-racers (fancy) class starts this Sunday with Young birds. The classes are run weekly
-
The class we are running next week is a young bird fancy class. Followed a fortnight later with an old bird fancy class. Dont forget to get your entry in

The GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a decent open source (read: free) alternative to Photoshop. http://www.gimp.org/windows/

Attached is a pdf document containing the; recognise pigeon racing as a sport petition. If as many members as possible would print it out and take it to their next; club meeting, get-together, corn store, show and get as many signatures as possible, that would be brilliant. Please ask signatories to fill in all parts if at all possible - the details are required for each signature on the petition to be recognised. Address is included because signatories should be on the electoral roll - so they could check up that we didnt make a whole bunch of names up. Country is included so that we can approach each country's sports council (in the UK) and state how many people in their country signed the petition. Sorry this is getting long :-/ Finally, please please please use only copies of the attached sheet to collect signatures - the statement at the top is required on all sheets. There will be a top sheet (that has to accompany the petition) and you may wish to let people read it before they sign (I'll post it once I've got the wording done) - it just says a bit about why we are collecting signatures, and details of the organiser of it. I'll provide an address to send completed sheets to if needed, otherwise keep them, keep getting signatures (as many as possible) and drop them to me in Blackpool.

I had a look through a couple of online petitions and came to the same conclusion as homer. While looking through the regulations and whatnot found that every signatory must provide specific details - which putting on the net (even with security) isn't everyones cup of tea. Will post up the petition sheet on a separate topic.

Hopefully we can eliminate these inconsistencies.

'Oldguy's' original post was a request for contacts to buy some pigeons. This thread is about if and how to help recognise a scammer - of which I have not seen any examples. I trust that this will be the end of postings highlighting or accusing any members.
-
I can understand your point, if you were referring to a delete, but the topic has only been moved as I said before. When we move a post, it isn't to wind a member up, it isn't a rap on the knuckles. It is to keep the forum organised (as best as possible), which means that members who perhaps dont visit so often (and cannot keep up with the volume of topics through the portal) can easily find what they are interested in, and post or read. I cant stress enough, that topics are moved to help the membership; it really doesn't deserve the stigma it seems to have adopted.

Entries for this class must be received by midnight 8th December (this Saturday) for judging to start on Sunday. Please forward by email only your photograph to [mail]forum@pigeonbasics.com[/mail] including your forum username. Any member may enter one bird (photo) into this class.
