  4. The way that I (or anyone else) view(s) the forum is of concern only to me (themselves). Your concern may be that I do monitor the forum. And I do.
  5. I dont understand where Jimmy contradicts me in his post. He knows perhaps more than most do, in that recently I was in Scotland on two seperate occasions - about 5 days total, I've been to Jersey recently - 2 weeks, and at these times wasnt online at all.
  6. We will wait until the SNFC does issue a statement on this matter. I urge people not to bring this up in other topics, it will only be removed.
  7. "I wish to clamp down on" - this may be through my own actions as you suggest, or indirectly the consequence of my actions. Regarding comments of my 'time'. The forum is only one part of Pigeonbasics. Pigeonbasics is only one of my areas of involvement with pigeons. And pigeons are only one part of my life. I'm sure you can respect that I cannot be on the forum all night, every night; my family, my work, my education, my pigeons, amongst others require my time and effort. Regardless of which, often I have no internet connection in the evening and as such monitor the website at other times of the day, such as now.
  8. Often threads are moved to a more suitable board - for example I moved a couple yesterday onto the members photos board. Nothing harmed, nothing removed, simply keeping the forum organised. We all try to strip a topic of hijacking as you say. And hijacking is a problem that I wish to clamp down on, the forum was setup to ask questions and help, not run a mockery.
  9. I've added the link to this topic to the top of every page on the forum, and to the news page of the website, hopefully get a few more eyes this way. All the best
  10. Dont forget :) - Ring numbers are pretty sparse at this end at the moment!
  11. I was out of the country, nothing I did :o Think Rose unearthed the new layout to the site though - crafty one ;D its still in testing yet. Sssshh :X

  13. Your right, there have been a few high profile cases where people have edited wrong content (however all edits are logged, and are quickly reverted if someone defaces a page). However purely on the volume of people that use Wikipedia as their first source of information it is a valuable resource that we should embrace - it's also free! Anyhow, who would want to deface an article on pigeon racing :X ;D
  14. A very well done, the pigeon racing article is vastly improved since the last time I looked. Perhaps it would be possible to link through the War Pigeons, GI Joe, etc articles which I've seen on Wikipedia? So many people now turn to Wikipedia for their first information on a subject it is vital that Pigeon racing is well documented. I'd like to urge all fanciers to have a look at the article and other pigeon related ones on there, and if there is anything missing or to change, just get in touch with abbott75, myself, or it is possible to edit the article yourself.
  15. A PM regarding an issue will highlight an issue to us, and it could very well be that action is taken in the majority of these cases. As long as there is one person posting under a single name there isnt a problem. IP addresses are not displayed to anyone but myself on the forum.
  16. Regarding the three threads that you have just reported to me. I have moved one to Chit-Chat, but the others deal with quite valid topics (one about Amtrak, and a thankyou for the Fifer). The main point is that there are no hard and fast rules! What banter covers is a grey area, and I wouldnt expect all members to agree when a post is turning, and that is no different for the moderators. It surely about a balance, and it is obvious that recently that that balance has swung in a certain direction. The moderators, and myself cannot be sat on here watching every topic, at every hour of the day. We require the co-operation of the membership to work with us on this problem. Banter doesnt happen if there aren't replies. I dont see my job as 'laying down the rules', an online community is about adapting to the requirements prevailing at the time. Reflecting rather than influencing member opinion and debate. None of us gets it right every time, and indeed if you dig deep enough you will probably find a reply from me that you could call banter :)
  17. I created the 'Chit-Chat' board for anyone wanting to post up banter, an effort to stop topic hijacking. Dont be surprised, or put out if topics are split, on other boards to cut this 'banter' out. As stated above there is the Chit-Chat board, and also the Chat Room. Therefore no reason for it to crop up in threads.

  20. How is this: http://www.pigeonbasics.com/clubs/thisweek.php Will show a list of all results of races raced within the last week.
  21. On Saturday I processed a number of backlog applications for mini-sites - that'll be why some look a bit empty at the moment. I'm working on some new pages to display the results posted better; but until then there is http://www.pigeonbasics.com/clubs/statistics.php Do you want to restart your clubs mini-site Craig?
  22. I forgot to put; please put the breeder and buyers forum usernames, and also to lot number if possible
  23. As you'll probably know there is £200 up for winning by the breeder and buyer of the Pigeonbasics Auction. If either (or both) the breeder and buyer of any of the lots could send the ring numbers of the birds to [mail]fund@pigeonbasics.com[/mail] to be eligible for the breeder/buyer competition. Ring numbers must be received by 1st July 2007. Then after racing the buyers please send all revelvent race results of these birds to the same address. Prior to 14th October 2007.
