  14. Firstly let me thank all members input on this topic. Every posting has been read and taken into account. May I bring to everyone's attention that guidelines are already in place, as is posted in the topic 'Readme' at the top of the 'Birds For Sale' board (link: http://www.pigeonbasics.com/forum/blah/m-1129113621/ ) If the seller chooses not to include some of the information on that list, it is quite right that prospective buyers may request it, via the PM system, or publically, and equally the reply may be using either medium. The seller then may, if they so wish, choose to reply to this request or not. There are also articles to help members buying (link: http://www.pigeonbasics.com/forum/blah/m-1125619298/ ) or selling (link: http://www.pigeonbasics.com/forum/blah/m-1125621413/ ). I feel that the issue is whether or not to make it manditory for certain information to be displayed in the advert. Personally my opinion would be that if some information is missing, the prospective buyer can request it if they are interested in the goods being sold. The lack of information should only negatively impact on the successfulness of the sale of the item in the topic. The power is with the prospective buyer; if adverts lacking vital information should be treated in one of two ways; 1) The prospective buyer may point out that some information is missing; the seller may then choose to provide. Subsequent sellers should note that certain information is required so that these time consuming queries are avoided. 2) The prospective buyer chooses to divert attention away from such adverts. Making them unsuccessful and thus a disinsentive to the seller in posting few details.
  15. Suggest a colour that we havent already used, and I'll make the change
  16. It isnt a requirement to vote on anyone's reputation. Only if they have posted something very informative, or helped you in some way (I guess) you would vote positively for them. Likewise negative.
  17. I note the dicussion on pigeon sales and pigeon sellers. Do members wish that the reputation system be returned to the site? Each member has a single vote on every other member on the forum. They can either vote, positively, or negatively or have no vote. There are no comments to accompany the vote. The reason that it was removed from the forum was that some members took it upon themselves to negavitely vote for another member if they disagreed with their opinion in one of the political debates we had goin at the time. Those members then took offence that they had a lower reputation for this. i am willing to reinstate the feature if the general membership wishes so.

  21. Firstly let me thank everyone for their comments on this issue. Moderation is always a tricky issue, because it is political; should we intervene? when should we intervene? should we influence or represent the debate? In Westminster you'll get the Labour view, the Conservative view, the SNP view, right down to the Monster Raving Loony view. How often do they all agree? Firstly let me settle that the selection of moderators is not up for discussion at any time. The selection will also never be done by the means of a vote. You must understand that moderators, dont actually want to moderate. We would much prefer it if we didnt have to remove profanity, intervene in a 'flame war', or remove topic hijacking posts, for example. It is only that at certain times, some people will post up material that is not suitable - infact most will know this when they post it, but for whatever reason it still gets posted. Compared to many forums our moderation is deliberately very liberal; and it is because of that you are able to discuss a wide range of topics and take in a wide range of views. for example: How many other forums would alow the discussion of moderation :-/ ? Unfortunately there will always be people that wish to push the boundries of what is acceptable, and that is when problems become prominent. If everyone was to conduct themselves in a manner that would be acceptable in any other walk of life, and if not, at least keep to the guidelines given in the code of conduct; would we be needing to discuss anything related to moderation? In a nutshell; moderation is a two way process; the problem is not the consequence of the problem.
  22. Feel free to post up suggestions of classes. Any different to previous years? Previously: YB, OB, Pairs, Oldies (Stock) and Grand Final.
  23. Read Wiley's comments on creating a microscope board, and Bruno on general health categorisation. If we come up with some good comprehensive categories and I'll pop them on
  24. Yes there was a topic, coxy wanting fantails. This was dated 27th August, and has now been removed.
  25. Winner I'm happy to announce that Lot: 48, bred by Roundo, and bought by Jumbo have won the Auction Breeder/Buyer. SU07CA3919's winning result was 7th Club, 21st Fed 1,720 birds. Giving a coefficient of: 0.01221. The result was tight; being closely followed by Chatrace/Tsykes and JAS/Geordie.
