The clock debate is a entirely different argument the problem some fanciers had was the advantage ets had over the conventional clock which no doubt it has However my preference for wicker baskets is that I think the birds are much happier in deep shavings which can't have in Geraldy crates which are usually dressed with cardboard and easybed which does stick to their feet. 4. Jake Burrell was the most dedicated and meticulous fancier I ever knew,he removed his shoes and put on a pair of gutty's before going in the loft and moved about inside like a ghost after basketing the birds for a toss or race he carried one of the old type panniers on his head down stepping stones to the bottom of the glen no mean feat as it was very steep and he was not a big man,I went to school with his son Keith who started the doos the same time as me so I served my apprenticeship in Doglas Water and many fond memories of all the great pigeon men it produced.

Caught one behind my loft couple months ago,lay a 2" pipe about 2 feet long against the back of the loft leading to a fen or gin trap baited with a piece of raw meat or bacon just behind the trap, remember to block the end after the trap so it is forced to go through the pipe, remember to cover the trap so no domestic animals can get to it.

Knew ALex many years ago when he run the open show which was held in Overton welfare hall, a very nice man and sorry to hear of his death. R.I.P Alex.
  11. Many lofts have aviaries with the traps fitted to them where the only way into the loft is though these traps,is this illegal?.
  12. Put me down for a yb if you want John, hope you all have a great night and I'm sure you will.
  13. Still can't accept lowering the standards is good for the club where will it stop, we will finish up handing out diplomas at race marking for just entering, when you lower the standards you lose the sense of achievement.
  14. John i have always been against lowering the standards in the National i argued strongly against bringing it down from 1 in 15 when i was on the committee, when i saw the late Davie Angus's performances 130 odd diplomas when it was 1 in 15 and only two races for most of his career thats kind of standards that made it a great club.
  15. Soon be getting diplomas for entering lowering the standards will turn it into a Micky mouse club.
  16. Loollllllllllllii ALex I use the white plastic ones from coxydene and find them very good just fix with two screw nails and they are easy to remove and clean plus they are very sturdy.
  17. make it a true national race from a distance of over 300 mls and you will see more open diplomas won in the west, at the moment the race is over in roughly 30 mins in the east hardly call that a national race.
  18. Yes two inland races followed by 3 Channel races within 8 days, crazy.
  19. To many races Del.
  20. Here's one that won't as there's no where else to go at that level.
