I must say Jack there is no problems identifying the colours in those pictures. Like tony ive seen pigeon eyes that people profess to being this colour or that and cant see what they can.
-
when the time to let them out comes dont force them out let them find there own way.Just leave the door open and sit in the garden they will xplore and come out when they are ready.

I got 12 last year my first year in pigeon racing. First batch of 6 where good (still got one hen left) second batch were very poor had to cull 2 in the first week of receiving them the other four where kept in there own shed for two weeks till they picked up a bit i lost 1 culled the others due to consistently getting ill. Spoke to a club member about it and he said thats what to expect from big stud's.Dunno how true this is but the general consensus around here is its a lucky dip.Yes you get good blood if you can keep em. all in all out of the 12 i bought i got one left. I bought six youngsters from doncaster spring fair 2006.From a place called red dragon lofts and they where exceptional compared to LPW birds.Lol only got one of them left as well but that was down to moving house and the first old bird race.

2 outa 2 from Kingsdown 177 miles No where in the club. Middlewich 2 bird still missing both of them gonna be hard
-
If your prepared to let them pay for the birds then be prepared to let them clock them.If the club was to limit the amount of birds you could clock they should limit the amount of birds you can enter.I wouldnt want a false position with my birds.

This year i took all my youngsters at 14 days old and put them on the floor in a corner bedded on straw .the hens went straight back down on egg's and the youngsters are great i put them in youngbird loft about 30 day's .Was really good seeing all the oldbirds feeding youngsters that where not there own.

I have 4 yearlings (only 2 to race now after injury's) 4pair of stock birds.Ive bred 35 young birds this season ive lost two and the rest are in a darkness loft 14ft by 7ft. the old birds (including stockers) are in a shed 16ft by 7ft split into 3 section. I will be dissapointed if i lose more then 10 through the training and racing.

Good luck to all who entered this week. do to unforseen circumstance's (I lost most of me team) .i am going in the middlewich two bird next week from same place

Isnt it amazing that some people can write like university lecturers yet still bicker and argue like little kid's.

Just looked out of the window and seen a blue on the garden.Turns out it is one of my late bred yearlings lost in the first race.He still has his race rubber on just a tad run down so he is in quarantine for the next week.Really pleased he came home .He was only trained to 80 miles as a youngster and this was his first time in the race basket.

I just wish someone would tell me a simple eyesign guide to breeding. Something like 1 seperate all pearl eye's from yellow eye's 2 proced to seperate all the full circled pearl eye's from the rest etc etc they would first have to show me how to recognise a full circle from half circle. Ive got a mealy with a yellow circle and one with half a black circle on a yellow background what would be better.A local fancier states that the black on yellow is the best where i would say that the full yellow is best .The reason being the black on yellow is not very bold and bright in other area's of the eye where as the full yellow is is outstanding all over the eye. Not asking for anyone to say what the reckon is best(time will tell) just trying to highlight problems that face us beginners. Are we looking just for the so called eyesign circle or the whole eye in general.do we want breeders racers or the dual eye.if we get the dual eye how do we know its any good if we dont race it and so on. Yes if i could get a Idiots guide to eyesign i would buy it :)Especially if it showed me how to pair by it.

Could it be breeding pigeons to produce winners is one big jigsaw and the eyesign is the last missing piece .Yes it is genetic just like the wing is genetic and feathering is.The reason i believe people are so confused about eyesign as a breeding tool is they dont yet have all the other piece's of the jigsaw in place so they just use the eye and say well that didnt produce a winner so eyesign is fake. Also through what i can discern a pigeon will breed more bad than good again maybe people see this as a failing in eyesign.People will generally look for any exscuse for there own failing's and to realise that it may be yourself and not the theory that is wrong could be big mistake in itself.

through what ive seen from other winning lofts around here .The trick is motivation and keenness to the loft be it natural or widowhood. The reason natural is paying dividends now is i reckon people are taking the widowhood for granted show the hen race the cock thats it.Sometimes it takes a bit more than that.Variety is the spice of life as they say.

Cancel this i'm aiming for the middlewich two bird open from the same place.

from my personal view i think there are to many theories and hocus pocus in the sport.I'm a new starter and instead of advancing in the last 18 months i think i have gone backwards. The amount of pigeon men i have spoke to and listened to in the last 2 years is uncountable and everyone has a little bit of this and that to tell you .Usually it contradicts what the last guy told you.I think i can count on one hand the amount of genuine fanciers who are actually willing to guide a new starter in the right direction and 2 of them where from this site .I dont think people actually start of to send me down blind alleys on purpose i think they dont realise how little i actually know of the sport.A case of to much information in to short a time .After trying for months to get to grips with the feeding regime i have now put my birds on hopper feed 24hr's a day.Ive got the deep litter sorted just done the food now i need to master the training.LOl i think, next i will turn to motivation and eyesign and wing theory throat theory feet theory and anything else i happen to read here or there.
