  1. I've got 24 cocks and 6 hens to race, 1st year racing old hens, But it seems a shame to not race them as they flew well as ybs as prizing. These will be split between two clubs mind
  2. They are brilliant!
  3. Just seen it on ebay, It's a bargain for someone who needed a cheap loft. If it was local! a bit of TLC and you would have a good loft. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pigeon-Loft-/150976560716?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D4717385628387769985%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D150976560716%26
  4. Club member in our club, Pairs up Feb 14th every year, he's flown a full season and he hasn't had a single card. 3 people on same gardens all pair up nice and early and have early bred ybs won all the cards between the 3 members, for the entire young bird season. It's not about when the bird was bred, It's how it's treated trained and just taught. Thats why people put young birds on darkness, Come a few races in and darkness yb are looking well, Natural yb are just in rags and it's cruel to even try to win races with them.
  5. not having a go, I was after a new loft a few year ago, I ordered one they said it was going to take 6 weeks, It never came, By this time i was having ybs hatching and needed a loft asap i spoke to a joiner i know, he said the quickest easiest was going to cost around 900 quid for a 24ft by 6, Thats without the screws and stuff, In the end i just added a few more hundred to that and got one from a loft company. Nice loft, Well worth what you are asking for it.
  6. Not just me who's a wee excited! I fly on some allotments, there only 3 of us but two member haven't even thought about paring up yet! i was thinking i was just to eager!
  7. Aww nice, I love it when the 1st few start to hatch! Mine are due to start hatching until next week, I've made a few changed too! New boxes for the cocks, i just need to move the hut for the hens, and put the trap on for young birds, When it comes! Thank you, I hope you have a good one too!
  8. Glad it's not just me, Im finding myself just going to loft and just watching them, Roll on next month when the Yb's are knocking about
  9. I have, My birds are in 100% health, Just waiting to get the young birds hatched and moved and then they'll be fit ready to go
  10. Today while feeding up the birds, One hen decided to walk out through the open door, and of course the cock followed! They had a good fly round and then both dropped, And trapped into the loft! Made me think how much i miss having the birds out daily, and seeing them come back from training, And from a race! April can't come fast enough for me, What are your views?
  11. I only started up a few year ago, I was told widowhood was the way forward and couldn't agree more, haven't done me any harm. I was watching a Dvd a few weeks ago, A flyer flew 1st until the last on widowhood and won the longest race 500+ miles 12 year on the trott. a widowhood cock will beat a natural pigeon 9/10 times as long as it's in good health.
  12. Is wood really that cheap where you live? Could barely make a rabbit hutch for £100 here.
  13. Try looking on ebay and online adds, Might be able to get one cheap enough on there.
  14. Mine are the same, one hen was hogging boxes like youd think the cocks would act
  15. A few of my hens was just in attach mode :/ I don't know what was wrong with him, They're all sorted now I think
  16. It was my hens what turned nasty this years, One hen had a right go at one of my yearling hens, Never seen anything like it!
  17. In fairness, If a bird is rung in that year it's a young bird, weather it be rung in January or July. People like to breed early these day to get it out of the way and then spend time getting the birds right, Trained and stuff without having to mess about with young birds.

    Stall Trap

Hi, I'm after a stall trap! Anyone recommend anywhere where i could buy one? Any help i would be very grateful! Andy,
  19. Couldn't agree more! Some people just don't like them, One guy in my club was the same always saying how i shouldn't breed them ect ect, Wasn't saying that when i was at the top of the sheet i tell ya
  20. I''ve bred a few late breds each year, Odd toss in winter and for the last two year i've had a latebred prize, 1st club, 161 birds, and 7th fed just sure of 1600+ birds.. latebreds can just be good as early bred young birds.
  21. I pair the lot up myself, with the race birds it's best to best. And with the stock birds i just pair depending on size, Breed where it's from and if it's been raced whats it's done and of course, If it's bred anything before. Like to swap round unless i get a good breeding pair.
  22. Thanks and thank you everyone else for the opinions
  23. Can you not see the purple? it's not a ch pied. Thanks old yellow, I had called it a opal before Just wanted opinions
  24. She's the same on both sides, just about i've called it a opal for ages! clubs mates call it all sorts and i saw a post on here and it was a same sort of colour And got me curious
  25. After reading a thread on here recently, got me wondering what colour one or two are my birds are.. What colour would you say? Cheers in advance. Andy!
