  1. The Chairman should always attempt to be seen as neutral. Often Chairmen do not vote at all in an attempt to ensure this neutrality. To maintain the neutrality of their position it is inadvisable to use their casting vote for change from the status quo. In some cases the Chairman may feel so strongly about a matter that they decide to vote and they are fully entitled to use their deliberative vote for this purpose. Further to this, when a decision is taken by a Committee then it becomes incumbent on all members of that Committee to vote with the majority decision of the Committee. The two exceptions being when they were not in attendance at the Committee meeting and tendered their apologies, or when they were in attendance and felt so strongly about the matter that they registered their minority report at the meeting. Said minority report must be recorded in the minutes by the Secretary. When the issue is one of a contentious nature the Committee may agree that all members be given a free vote when the matter is taken to the full membership and that they make no Committee recommendation with regards to the matter.
  2. Well done George.
  3. When I first started up I was on tenderhooks because I was aware that there was a situation and that feelings were running high. For some, the feelings have not abated, so as Vinny says, don't even bother to go there. Look at the race programme offered by each Club and pick the one that suits you best taking into consideration marking stations and the like. If you are able to mark for both and if both have races that suit you, then join both.
  4. Good morning all.
  5. Happy birthday.
  6. Good morning all.
  7. One club has around 17 members, the other around 15 members. Most fly the programme.
  8. Good morning all.
  9. Good afternoon all.
  10. Try Planet Bros. :D
  11. Happy birthday.
  12. The amount of these "Big Things" that hit our shores, you wouldn't need to buy the fancier. You would expect to hear of some really good ones from them. I am sure this is the case and that for all the imports coming to these shores there are quite a few good ones. The reason we no longer hear of them is that they are bred into existing families, bred over by the next craze, or just bred into oblivion. How does someone manage to breed so many pigeons that they are able to export them all over and yet remain at the top of their game?
  13. Good morning all.
  14. Good morning all.
  15. Right now, my aim is any prize. Once I achieve that aim, then the sights will be raised. Without doubt, 1st National Blue Riband Race is the main aim, but there are many targets to achieve on the road towards that aim.
  16. Like the rest of the Scots guys on here, one first only per race. The rest are purely gimmicks for sales and can be misleading. Given your example, if it is expressed as you have done there is no misrepresentation. If it is advertised as having won four firsts, which it can be, then it is misrepresentation of fact and is so done purely for sales. Continentals are super at advertising and ten prizes seems a good thing, but it is vague and could be a misrepresentation because the individual takes it to mean something different. A prize could be 1st Club,4th Federation, 18th Amalgamation, 70th Combine, 225th Open, 5 prizes from the one race. This sort of feat could be achieved 10 times in one season, thus giving 50 prizes and the YB's sold at exorbitant prices.
  17. Top man Walter.
  18. Welcome to the site.
  19. This can also be achieved locally. This used to be done in the UK and still is amongst the top fanciers. I think there are too many fanciers looking to buy success without working for it. Good luck to them, but the old saying is, the harder I practice the luckier I get.
  20. They do seem to remember second prizes on the continent. As I said, advertising hype. The continentals are the experts at it. I can't be bothered to do it, but why doesn't someone look at Hardy Kruger's results over 5 seasons and then look for good hardy Scottish doos that have achieved the same over the same 5 seasons over our own racecourse. I am sure you will find the aforementioned names on your list.
