  1. February already sheesh! I had better start letting my birds out.
  2. Joe the only reason I put up rule 188 is because there’s nothing in the rules saying you cant do it. If your going to stop someone sending you’ve got to have grounds. As there’s no rules to cover this the only way I can see you stopping someone sending is use a rule which can be interpreted in such a way. If it gets taken to the region they will then have to make or get a ruling. I cant see a region making a ruling without an appeal being put in front of them.
  3. How do you read this rule. Could it be argued that ring numbers means that each individual ring (or rings if more than one) a pigeon carries must be entered on the race sheet. RPRA RULE 188. NO MEMBER SHALL BE ALLOWED TO MARK OR RACE RING HIS/HER OWN BIRDS OR TAKE ANY ACTIVE PART IN THE PROCEDURE. Individuals may use race entry sheets, which may be produced by computer software programs and printed on sheets of plain paper or onto sheets which are pre-printed, provided by either an Organisation or by an individual fancier. The race entry form must have the following requirements: Printed in ink, have space for full ring numbers, inside and outside rubber race numbers/letters, name(s) of fancier(s), name of Club, date of race, race point, sex of bird, signature of fancier(s). Details entered on the race entry sheet may be printed using computer software programs or hand written by the fancier. The counterfoil of the rubber race ring(s) placed on the pigeon should be passed to the sheet marking official who should write the outside number(s) alongside the pigeon ring number. In cases where birds are double race rubbered the rubbers MUST have different serial numbers. All rubber race counterfoils must be carefully sealed in envelopes immediately after marking and, like the clock sheets or envelopes and entry forms, kept under seal in a secure place at headquarters or by the appointed officials in the case of Specialist Clubs. Members of the Association enter their birds in races organised by bodies affiliated to the Association at their own risk against loss or damage. The purchase and use of duplicate numbered race rubbers showing the same serial numbers is prohibited.
  4. I would have no qualms putting them into the first race at that distance without them even having a training toss.

  7. Hi Micko, it wouldn't have hurt them one little bit in fact I would have left them out till they dried themselves naturally. I think it a mistake to get pigeons back in the loft whilst still soaking wet, more chance of picking up a chill in the loft with draughts........ no draughts outside the loft only wind. Tony aged 50 and 3 months
  8. I recall reading Steve P writing about this and I'm pretty sure this was how he gave it to he's pigeons before he got he's hands on a juicer.
  9. I use the same one myself..........and win.

  18. Blimey Ben! If you ever get the Queens loft managers job we’ll have to put you on bromide ;D
  19. Jimmy here in Essex were just above sea level, no cliffs, valleys or even hills to speak of yet we even have peregrines here now. This pair were photographed just over the back of me. Natural habitat, I dont think so.
  20. I follow you now robbiedoo.
  21. Droppings can be sent away for screening but unfortunately paratyphoid can sometimes go undetected in such a test. If I suspected paratyphoid in my pigeons I would send one away to be tested.
  22. I do none of the above. Why? I know fanciers that have vaccinated and their pigeons have still contacted this disease. I’m of the opinion that your inviting this disease into you lofts simply by the amount of fanciers that I know that have vaccinated and gone down with it at a later date. It seems to me on percentages that fanciers that do in fact vaccinate against paratyphoid succumb to it more than those that don’t.
  23. Welcome davep
  24. How long have they had this and are they losing weight?
