I think OB losses perhaps reflects on YB training, education. I know we can't account for BOP attacks and other hazzards that effect us but youngsters need work. This YB season once racing had started,I trained every week twice a week from 25mls and they were out twice a day. That's the training, exercise they had but half my team went every race through the YB programme down to Exeter 220mls and to which I think adding another 30mls is far enough for any baby. We start at 90mls which is also a big ask when a lot of clubs will kick off at about 60m/65mls. I have also found over the years that babies that don't complete the YB prgramme fully, are usually the first casualities the following year. I am satisfied with what I have ended up with and am already looking forward to a good OB season 2013.

Thank you Archie, most enjoyable.

Off round the cafe ? I'm pacing the garden watching every movement, shouting at everything that goes through even starlings make a dip for the loft lol. We're up at 8am, 133mls looking at 10:15---10:20. Hope that tea burns your mouth though I doubt it lol. Good luck with the race.

Kent Cosmopolitan Fed from Lyndhurst this week end 133mls to my place. Hope to keep the form running.

Well done to all winners, from experience, I know it takes a lot of hard work and endless miles. Congratulations !!

Kent Cosmopolitan basketing delayed 24hrs. Looking for a Sunday Lib.

On here somewhere, I think I saw a list of addresses to which to report foreign pigeons, Belgian, Germans, Dutch etc. I can't seem to find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction please. thankyou.

Unaable to race Sat with transporter problems. Basketing Sat night for Sunday lib. On the upside, all pigeons will be coming this way and no clashing. Downside, very hot and although it's only 88 miles have a gut feeling it won't be easy.

Hi Tony, Yep!! last five flights on each wing, completely bleached. Big roomy hen too. I'll certainly let her moult through and take it from there.

Again these wonderful creatures never fail to suprise me. Went to the loft 5pm last night saw a lovely dark hen stood amongst my youngsters. Picked her up and she had an excellent body on her and on checking the No,which was a 2010 pigeon I found it to be a hen which I had lost yb racing in that year. What now.?

Another cracking toss this morning 35 from 35 just waiting for the bubble to burst.
-
35 gone at 6am for a 30miler. Lovely morning here, fingers crossed we'll get a good toss in.

Let my youngsters out at 5:35 this morning and for the first time ever, Percy went through em. Didn't make a contact or kill, just frightened the daylights out of them. They rose in the sky virtually out of site as high it seemed as an Aeroplane and cleared across the channel. Never having such a thing happen before I didn't know what to expect. After 1hr 50mins I was looking out of my extension window and picked up a group of pigeons coming home. They folded at about fifty yards from the loft and trapped in seconds all 35 of them. I don't drink but if there had been any to hand, who knows?
-
Yes I think it's that 'special' mix Ian. lol.

Yesterday evening at around 4:30pm I let my youngsters out and after their fly they returned with 5 strays all of which entered my loft. There was three from the North of England which I would suspect had just crossed the channel and two from the Netherlands. It's such a shame the the NEHU pigeons are never stameped or carry ID rings. After a good feed and nights rest, the NEHU pigeons were let go and cleared and hopefully will keep each other company on the way home. I shall let the netherland pigeon go later in the day.

Have only had a couple of tosses with my 35 youngsters, first one from 5 mile which took them 45 mins and the next one from 20m which took them 23mins. The good thing about these babies is that they are scorching the skies here around home for up to an hour and a half.
-
First toss today from 18/20 mls. Exercising well around home for just an hour or slightly more. Strong SW winds should help push em' down into this corner so hoping for good returns.

Steve M has it Ryan. I'll blag it for ya. Cheers son I reckon it's you two boys that should be put on darkness lol.

The 'normal' liberation time is 8.00am - but there has not been any 'normal' racing so far this season They shouldn't be up before 7.00am though GUTTED!!!!!!! and feel bad about it. Had a chat with a lady on the phone on Friday who told me there would be an update Sat morning at 07:30hrs to which I said that if I was there for 07:30, I should see them go. Arrived with 6 friends at 07:20 to see 11 Transporters left and empty. The birds were let go at 07:00. I was then told by the convoyer that the message for the update was for the racing fanciers to call at 07:30 to find out the Lib time. I can only apologies to people who wanted to see photos of this terrific Liberation and I feel I've let them down but I can promise you next year, I shall be sleeping in a tent the night before on site..

-
I only live some 16 miles from the Lib site and have seen it on several occasions. It really is a spectacle and for any one who hasn't seen it and is able to, then give yourself a treat.
