Eastcoaster Your right they are in massive demand but not only hear but in Frans area of Holland too, i only have enough to bred a normal number for racing from then at present 9 pairs, Frans has sold some extra ybs this year and the rest he will keep to select for his Auction in Doncaster, they will be older this year and through there moult at the show!!!! I did last year purchase 40 for Raymond Moleveld so that he can help out with demand but Raymond bred a lovely team of ybs and for the first time in Vreeland he decided to race ybs, and bang on the Zwols have won 2 races and finished 2nd in the other one for him, he will now push them to the national NPO races and i think they will succeed!! Frans himself is the type of person you cannot help to like, he has had such a tremendous season, 1st 2nd 3rd 19,000b, 1st 11,000b, 2nd 10,500b etc One good thing is that two studs who have excellent reputations and who are owned by honest pigeon folk have invested in groups of ybs from the stock loft this year so they will become more widely available in the future. my rugby club will be having player sponsors this year, (they have made me promise to play for one more year). I plan to Auction a pair of ybs on here with proceeds going to Old Redcliffians RFC and i will name pigeonbasics as my season long sponsor, i have to raise a minimum of £100. Im sure to get a bit of stick from the players but it might get a few new people to look at the site. So watch this space for a very special matched pair!!!! Kind Regards Stuart Wilcox

Sprint and middle, he is a new name in the UK but not in Holland, he has been a past president of the NPO, i timed a 50% Frans Zwols to win 12th Open NFC yesterday 360 miles and he could have flown another 100 no problem. Stu

Frans Zwols is on a role in Afdeling 10, yesterday he was 1st Afd 10 with around 12,000 birds flying, it was a shortish race but Frans won it comfortably with a son of Tip Top Junior which is bred from the top pair of Liedeman Brothers Tip Top x Ziewsje Miese. Last week frans was 2nd Afdeling 10 from 11,556b and two week prior to that he was 1st 2nd 3rd Afdeling 10 from Rekkem from 19,426b, these results competes with any flyer in Holland at the moment. All 5 birds in the above result contain the blood or Frans top pair Dutch Prince x De Diament who have bred 50 plus 1st prize winners!!!! Hope noboddy minds me posting the info for the few lads who follow Frans. All the best Stuart

Just one others question and i genuinely mean this, is the parathyus injection (the live version) not legal in the UK? i dont use it but i know plenty that do!!!!
-
JPH You may know me you may not but one thing i will state is that i record every performance of these guys as accurate as possible, the internet is a small place and if you tell fibs they are easily found out!!!! If you can find out where i have mislead or been mistaken then i will hold my hands up and say, Holland is plit into 10 Sectors (afdeling), combines and each combine has between 6-11 Rayons (feds), Nattionals involve results for more than one Afdeling they are called NPO races, Nationals are the whole country divided into 3, normally called sector 1, 2 or 3. Now each sector winner is called a 1st National in Holland but normally the birdages range from 5000 - 25,000b. Lots of people are often ready to knock but im happy i do what i do honestly and to the book. Stuart P.S. Zara has incredible results, believe me. The only thing she benifits from is they hold more long distance events over the season the UK.
-
JPH i will give you my results when the season is over, there is along way to go yet!!!!!
-
Frans i believe uses a live vaccine for parathyus in November and one for paramyxo, as does alot of UK fanciers!!!!! Aad Van Berkel to my knowledge only injects for Paramyxo Raymond has only ever used paramyxo in the off season, he does treat for resporatory prior to long distance events. A couple of products have been used for that by Van Der Sluis. But the above is administered by a vet and are medicines, your wording emplies drug abuse!!!! Illegal ones To Add i dont have a clue what Mark Van Den Berg does but im sure i can find out!!!

Jon Sarina is a superb racer and breeder, Zara is racing and to my knowledge she is probaly the number 1 hen racing in Holland today!!! But Sarina is a lagend!! Stu JPH I understand your concerns but be careful not cover all with your rants!!!!

Hi Guys In part i agree with you, sub-standard birds do cross the pond to be sold in this country as they are not wanted or do they make the grade in there own country. I hopefully in the 3 fanciers i sell for Frans Zwols, Aad Van Berkel and Raymond Moleveld, have genuine fanciers, with genuine results and more importantly genuine pigeons. I have sold lots of Raymonds pigeons to not only people in the UK but to lots of fanciers on this site and i believe its good practice to inform you guys of how they are doing in there own country too hopefully reinforce that. As for selling on this site, yes i do and have done alot for the site in return, i have supplied good pigeons to many site members at the right price, if you have a problem with my activities on this site then please take that up with the admin team!!! In terms of drugs etc, i dont think you can tarr everyone with the same brush and i dont believe any of the fanciers above do anything other than work there pigeons hard!!! Are you actually saying that any of the fanciers i repressent use drugs????

We sold direct children of Lisa and Arther at Edingburgh and Blackpool this past year!!!! Raymond always did say his own distance pigeons were special!!!
-
Zara who is flown by By Mark Van Berg has won the following prizes in two years. 1st Nat Montauban 5423b 2nd NPO Brive 5319b 20th NPO Perigreaux 6493b 94th Nat Limoges 13,196b 114th Nat Perigreaux 6843b She will be raced on and has a super chance to be one of the best ever hens flown in Hollands history. She is a Moleveld x Kiekebelt hen, her sire is Brive 2 bred from De Brive, bred and raced by Raymond Moleveld he won 1st NPO Brive 7740b. The dam of Brive 2 is from Arther and Lisa, both are children of De Lightenberg. I thinks its important to know that pigeons from Holland and Belguim that are offered here are successful in there own country too. Stuart Wilcox

I had my pigeons tested and they didnt have paratyphus!!!

Last year i had a very similar problem after race 5, one cock bird, then 2 years old had a stiff wing and went a little lob sided, at first i believed it was an injury and rested him, at race 6 4 cocks showed the same symptoms approx 48 hours after coming home, perfect droppings, looked and handle well but didnt fly out when i opened the doors and on inspection found they couldnt fly very well!!! At that point the first cock was sent to a vet where he was tested for Parathyoid/salmenella, cocci, worms canker etc and he and other samples came back negative. Slowly however the other 4 recovered so i then sent all that section to 350 miles and bang, they came home (90%) on the day but they were not at all happy and within days more couldnt fly!!!! Some of the birds recovered and some were disposed of!! Now the birds that recovered have gone down this year so they probaly didnt recover at all, just signs went away. To add last years ybs were pretty special and i had 100% hatch this year too, and others this year have raced ok in the few races i have sent to. Now i have done a bit of research on this and it turns out that loads of people have had the same problem but keep stum about!!!!! So i have come up with 2 or 3 explanations. 1) I have alot of Hawk problems, very often my pigeons fly off at 200 miles an hour when the sparrowhawk is around or flea out of the sky when percy are here, are they causing perminent damage to the tendons when they do this which comes out under extreme physical stress. 2) Streptococcus, this bacteria desease will cause tendon and joint swelling, all pigeons have some strepy bacteria but when it goes into the lining of the stomach and then the blood stream it can cause sudden death or paralysis and is often visable with slimy droppings. (i havnt had any of these problems) 3) Clamidia, a route cause of ornithosis, its said that all pigeons have some amount of clymdia virus in them but high levels for long periods can lead to joint and tendon paralysis and airsack damage ( often you experience high losses of what looks like healthy pigeons). The problem with Clamidia is that its very hard to test for and treat, its common in america where they recommend treatment for 40 plus days. Thats were i am with my observations, i intend to fly my pigeons very hard so that altimatly the basket will decide the fitest pigeons and touch wood the only pigeons that have shown any weekness are those who were exposed to these probaly before, the yearling have showed no signs.

I bred 45 latebreds in 2007, i sold the 20 hens and kept the 25 cocks, trained them to 50 miles as babies all over the place and now i have only 3 left but 2 of them are my best racers, so was it worth it????? Not really sure but i guess a small yes.
