Proposed 700 Ml Racing Into Central Scotland .
Roland replied to eastcoaster's topic in Notice Board
Spot on. But I don't for a minute believe that the birds would enter the mainland at the bottom. They would fly over the water. Well certainly till the needed to come inland, where they would possibly dog leg. Also, I believe that the distance in a straight line dishonours these great birds.... they would most probably hit the mainland a little earlier in many case which in it's self adds milage to their wings. -
I put poster up for the birds last night regards this SHU safety regards Avian Flu. They all ... well totally ignored them. Heard a few crows cawing as in laughter... Maybe I put a Caw instead of a Jarp etc. in the wrong place. As many will recall I told about the cat walking the roof tops ... Now cats can and do get Avian Flu... and they eat the legs first often. So I knocked the doors asking them to keep them in for own safety ... Mr Robin says he would stay away provided he didn't lose his Territory later ... Two ring neck doves crapped on a poster, cheeky gits. And the Feral said that they would stay away from my loft, but couldn't guarantee not going near another loft, Nor when with other pigeons picking the minerals in the fields that they wouldn't mix with other birds. A bit awkward this, so I phoned the RPRA for a quide line... They got cut of twice.... Both when I phoned back and stated I was serious they listen... Think he had a bad cold as he was wheezing a fair bit and gasping for breathe. I think that they had the Xmas party last night and were all suffering from food poisoning. Because when I asked them to put it on the loud speaker for all to hear, in case they could help, he said that they were all rolling about on the floor... I could help the gulping too... sounded a bit like laughing actually, still they said they would phone back some time. Had a little good news last night too. Two Scottish comedians phoned to say that they would pass the news around when touring as they though it was a good line. Praise them, such good hearted sould eh!

Novice, Pigeons don't get effected by the flu. The worry is that they can carry it on the legs - Mind apparently Dafra As such feel that our pigeons could spread it! As for the SHU Statement, with it's proviso, that was meant as a joke surely to appease a few lol. An impossible dream. But to be on the safe side I put poster up for the birds last night ... totally ignored. Heard a few crows cawing as in laughter... Maybe I put a Caw instead of a Jarp etc. in the wrong place. I think the main difference between England and Scotland is the vast amount of water that they will fly over. Water breezes are far colder. Tiger don't believe all you here ... especially from those with vested interests :emoticon-0136-giggle: -

Let's stop the Mountains (Pin *expletive removed*) and terrain. Buoyance and valleys play a big part too. Wind and time of letting them up. For sure the silly unfair, yes contrived Noon Libs see middle distance birds scoring flying far less. But on a good day as soon as the sun is up they should be released. Cold channel! Now that will take a toll second day. Even same day different weathers can, and often are a force to be reckoned with. Certainly unlikely to be the same each day, week and certainly each year. The debacle of 22nd of June is a great put down. Hot days with no wind hardly... ekk! Now better to lose 20 minutes for July race. -

True, and was robbed by the H.O.D. to boot. Fantastic flying, as good as nigh any where. -

Don't know about that. Think you may well find that well wide of the mark. (No pun intended). -
Like Kyleakin say How? it's stupid! So Red chequer if you know, and are so well ahead of the times, please tell. Personally I know not, or know of any other that can ensure the proviso... Indeed as I say 'Laughable, and sadly SILLY. Very True. Mind they usually work for the betterment together. Mind tonight and in the morning I am letting ALL wild birds that they can no longer share any vicinity as my pigeons :emoticon-0136-giggle:

General Manager    Update at 17.00 12th December 2016 Since the update below I have been in regular contact with DEFRA/Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA). During this period members and organisations have been given conflicting advice in relation to pigeons. However, the advice I have been given is that the compulsory confinement of pigeons remains and that anyone releasing pigeons outside of the loft may be liable to prosecution. Please be assured that I am doing everything possible to get this restriction lifted.  Ian Evans General Manager RPRA However in wisdom the shu say to can let the birds out AS LONG as they don't mix / OR GET contaminated, or contaminate wild birds lol with wild birds etc. lol Maybe we should in future teach ALL wild birds not to mix with our pigeons lol Think they should rename themselves 'The Comedy Pigeon society'. Trying to appease the SHU is making themselves a laughing stock. All for the sake of a couple of weeks.

Ah good ... so needn't waste money buying ... just say 'Lost in Post lol'!

AND still ones want to interpret it as something different! (Selfish and needless) We leave ourselves wide open in any way but which to be scorned at. So when we raise a relevant and sensible uttering regards any thing, like say B/O/P/ or Housing problems / councils tyhey laugh and say 'You lol, you can't even keep your own house in order'! etc. etc. Time to get over it and abide the rules and keep our house clean I say!
-
Can't see where it say AFTER 6th December you can let the birds out. Wishful, and dangerous hoping here I believe. Latest situation Poultry keepers across Great Britain must now keep chickens, hens, ducks and turkeys housed indoors where practicable, or keep them separate from wild birds. For farmed geese, game birds and other captive birds where housing is less practicable, keepers must take steps to keep them separate from wild birds. This is because on 6 December 2016 Defra, the Scottish Government and the Welsh Government announced Avian Influenza Prevention Zones to help protect poultry from a highly pathogenic strain of avian flu present in Europe. The zones cover the whole of England, Scotland and Wales. They will remain in place for 30 days (until 6 January). You can read more about this further down this page. Time to just accept and get on with it. JMO.

So airdrie2 does that mean A. it keeps it in store till deleted? Also does it mean then another 7 and another 7 can be added after?
-
Besides lets face it, try as we may to get around it means we would be A. Selfish and uncaring. B. We are showing contempt and being obnoxious in the Public, governing bodies eyes! Especially DAFRA'S eyes etc. One word 'SHAMEFUL'! We have enough hassles from neighbours, councils, pigeon haters as it is, let alone needlessly giving them more, and in this case, reasons to highlight against out so - called sport! Best shut up and apply I say for sooner passed sooner forgotten. Plus in reality Absolutely nothing can, or will be gained by silly ignorance. JMO AND if the cap fits Wear it! So some want to cut the nose of our sport eh!
-
Pigeons ARE considered 'Poultry' the RPRA and many more have tried unsuccessfully to have them classed differently. Mind we don't complain when in HOSE PIPE banns we can legally use the hose pipe because they are classed as poultry. Maybe one can look up DAFFY'S and check it out

Looking good mate. I think it has been a good year regards the moult.

Well the Club Sec and ET Setter just rung me. Said 'Haven't ignored me, just walked in from my Holiday in Portugal'. Weather not good, but improved later in the week. Any way Yes would need a Benzing club system. But would be no problem in putting his rings through ... Wouldn't use those off the internet as seems many are duds. Off course wouldn't be able to race them, but for personal use / training like no problem, and wouldn't be illegal or anything. Most club would, like he would, set it up no problem. Obviously they'd be rung and where or how he got the rings would be irrelevant. So glad that sorted out. Yes I was wrong in not realising that a Benzing club system would still have to be used. I apologise. Besides Wiley you already have rung birds etc. so no problem there then.
-
Thanks for the post Tony. Confirms what I said regards shows and keeping ALL in.
-
Yes Kyleakin, true ... But it doesn't have to be a club computer! Any computer will do it ... Club computers certainly don't have anything special that makes it special to do it. Home computer would work, and then they wouldn't have them ring numbers of the club racers ON THE club computer! Only those on the club computer would show.
-
Besides if he buys one it is his to do what he likes with it. Set it up for himself. Hang it on a Xmas tree, or dangle of a gutter etc. Won't have 'Distances unless a member of a union etc. won't be on it But then he wouldn't need one. Our club secretary would do it for him if he struggled etc. For it is no more than a aid to see what time a pigeon arrived at his loft etc. Nothing to do with Club or unions.
-
If you like ... So get the birds registered. Via a club or a RPRA / SHU or such! But nothing needs to stop a person from a Club Official from setting it up. He would still need to be a member to race in that club by paying club fees etc. full stop! Nothing to stop a E.T. being SET up for training purposes though... Also many are members of say the SHU who aren't in a club. They can fly nationals USING a E.T. So if a club official sets it up for him then no bother. Must be legal and able. .
-
Believe that 'Shows' have always been allowed... Think a phone call was need to the authorities in charge. I know most went ahead. They are still contained and in a shut down like.
-
We have Jim Savage the agent on here. First class and only too pleased to help. A scholar and gentleman. give him a buzz. Don't believe '.... You need a Club system to register your pigeons'. to train them. But of course to race them. Guess that leads to why would any one train them if not in future going to race them? Unless one wants to see their merit before hand ... which of course training wouldn't show much in that regards. So for personal use one must be able to. One mustn't get mixed up regards owning and using one as against abiding the governing bodies rule IF to race.
